She texted Sejeong, "How are you doing?"
Sejeong replied with a thumbs down and vomiting emoji... not good. After a few seconds, she followed up with a smiling emoji and an I will be okay after today.
She rolled her eyes, "Sure you will."
She heard the pharmacist call out her number and approached to take the medication. She received a few as the doctor said this could be the long-lasting effects of the intense cold Sejeong had a few weeks ago. That on top of the migraine and fatigue, it's no wonder she's bedridden.
She took a look at the four different bottles, all with different instructions. There's no way Sejeong will remember what to do, when to take them and by how much. At least not if she remains in this condition, and she highly doubts Sejeong will be any better tomorrow. If anything, based on her previous patterns, she'll be worse before getting better.
She got into the driver's seat of her car and took another look at the meds. No, she can't leave Sejeong alone tomorrow. She got her phone out and scrolled through her contacts, stopping once she reached the person she had in mind. Her finger hovered over the call button for a while, she knew she'd get in serious trouble if management found out about this. But there was only one other person she knew who would drop everything to help and that she trusted would take care of Sejeong properly.
And so, she dialled. The line rang for a while before he picked up, "Hello?"
"Hyoseop-ah, hi, it's Sejeong's manager."
"Oh, hello! How are you?"
"I'm doing alright. Listen, is your schedule packed tomorrow?"
"I think I have a few internal meetings, why do you ask?"
"I really hate doing this but I need you to do me a favour..."
...
Sejeong was disappointed when she opened her eyes the next morning only feeling worse than the previous day. Her manager had kindly left her a bottle of water on the bedside table before heading off yesterday night. She took a few sips, which was all she could manage before she felt like throwing up again.
Sejeong couldn't even be bothered to look at her phone, "Hey Siri, what time is it?"
"It is currently 7:30 am."
She had slept for a full twelve hours, and yet why isn't this sickness going away? She was starting to regret not saying yes to her manager's offer, but everyone deserved their rest days. She turned to another side of her room, facing the window next to her bed. There was a bit of light pouring in through a crack between the blinds, how she wished she was well enough to go out today.
Sejeong attempted to get up, only to be hit by a wave of nausea. It was as if the entire world was spinning. She quickly laid back down on the bed, curling up underneath the covers. She needed her meds, but to do that, she'd have to stand up and walk to the dining table where they were. She couldn't even get two steps without throwing up, why bother trying?
She closed her eyes, hoping she could go back to sleep instead and that her migraine will go away on its own.
...
Sejeong had no idea what time it was when she was awoken by the sound of someone entering the passcode for her front door. That was odd, had her manager changed her mind? Honestly, she was hoping she did because if not, she feared someone was trying to break in.
She heard her front door unlock, so clearly whoever it was knew her pin, "Mae-nim, is that you?" she called out weakly from her bed.
Whoever it was didn't answer, but Sejeong could hear them place a plastic bag on her dining table. She tried her best to open her eyes but it was too painful, thanks to the fever and the constant migraine. She could feel the presence walk closer to where she was, all jokes aside, was she about to get murdered?
