"Dude I can't wait." grinned Zack.

"I just wanna hear these new songs you wrote!" I squealed. "Seriously, I've been excited all week!"

Alex just laughed at my excitedness, obviously thinking I was exaggerating. He looked at Zack, who was shaking his head.

"She has literally been like this all week..." he cringed.

Alex threw an arm around me and his other around Zack, and we finally reached Jack's place. Carla the dragon mother was sick of us all by now, so we moved to Jack's instead for practice. Joyce was awesome; she's the kind of doting mother everybody wishes they could have, because she just let's everything slide over her head! It's great going to the Barakats'; you always leave laughing. Alex knocked on the front door, and we were greeted with Jack's sister, May. As soon as she saw me, a smirk instantly spread across her face. I knew what was coming. She said the same thing every time I'd come here.

"JACK YOUR GIRLFRIEND'S HERE!" she yelled up the stairs.

"FOR FUCK SAKE , MAY, SHE'S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!" he yelled back.

I knew to not be offended by this, because from what Alex told me when we first met, May said it about every friend of Jack's who just happened to be a girl when they came over...and there was also the small fact that Jack didn't think his family knew about me. Jack finally came downstairs, and dragged us down to the basement before Joy could come out and start fussing over us. Rian, Kara, Lisa and Grieco were already there, along with a few other people. I kinda knew they were other friends of the guys, but I didn't know names too well. They all embraced each other - even Zack - whilst I stood alone awkwardly. I heard Rian talking to a few of the girls and he mentioned my name. I looked up instantly; all of them were looking at me and smiling.

"So you play drums?" one of them asked.

I nodded nervously, slightly smiling at her.

"Oh my god that is so cool! I think it's cool when girls play, shows the boys we can do stuff just as well as them." said another. "You go girl!"

I laughed along, and sat with them whilst the guys set up. They seemed nice, even though they were like a million times prettier than me. I hate to sound like a bitch...but the guys were known as the 'band losers' of school...how the fuck did they know so many pretty girls?!

"Um, guys we're ready." I heard Alex say.

Everyone piled onto the couches, yet most of us ended up on the floor anyway, with myself and Grieco right at the front. We're beyond groupies at this point; we're basically in the band! We go to every show with the guys (I went mostly because my parents worried about Zack), and approve all new music. They started playing the new songs, and all of them were great! One in particular though, Running From Lions, really caught me. It was amazing. I sat through every second of it, listening carefully to every beat and lyric. Everyone thought they'd done, but Jack said they had one more. Everyone who had moved tutted and quickly dived back into their previous seats. Every single one of us was staring at Alex, who was in turn staring at the ground. I'm sure I saw tears in his eyes, but he quickly blinked them away, and looked at us all.

"So all of you know about Tom..." he said quietly; everyone gasped. "Well...this one's about him. It's called Lullabies."

He took a minute to compose himself properly. Finally, he started the song: all of us cried with Alex...

*

"Lily!"

I snapped back to reality; the car was stopped outside school, and dad was staring at me.

"Sorry. I was just daydreaming." I said quietly. "Bye dad."

"Bye sweetie." he said quietly.

I watched him drive away and instantly headed for the girls' bathroom. There's no way I'm going to music class now! Jack'll only be asking questions, and I don't want to speak to him. I successfully hid in there, until the bell rang to signal the end of second period. I snuck out when the crowds had finally been released into the corridors, and snaked my way through everyone to my locker. As usual, Rian had Kara against the lockers with their tongues down each others' throats.

"Guys please..." I grimaced.

"Oh sorry Lily!" gasped Rian, pulling away.

I shook my head and chuckled quietly at them. Ever since the whole Jack situation, they avoided even looking at each other when I was around, obviously scared of what I'd do. To be honest, it didn't bother me; I told them so. But they insisted. The three of us were just talking about everything and anything, when I noticed Kara nudge Rian. He discretely glanced down the corridor. A panicked look spread across his face as he walked away from us. Kara suddenly grabbed my hand.

"What the-"

"Let's just go, Lily." she said quietly, not looking at me.

"But Kara why-"

"Jack was coming down with his new girlfriend." she said irritably.

"Wait he has a girlfrie-"

"YES LILY NOW LET'S GO!" she screamed, pulling me round the corner to biology.
