Start from the beginning

"I'd have to set it up..." Chris said.

"Then go inside and do it!" Shanna said.

"Scott help me." Chris said and they walked inside.

"For the newbie...can I asked what this tradition is?" I asked.

"Well, I know you're comfortable singing in front of people so you will be fine. Its karaoke time!" Tara said and I laughed.

"Really?!" I asked and she nodded.

"Not just any karaoke..." Carly said and I looked concerned.

"Now I'm scared." I said and everyone laughed.

"It's not bad it's just we pick songs at random...one of those we hope you know it type of things." Tara said and I laughed.

"Awesome, sounds like an epic fail bit so much fun." I said and everyone nodded.

"It's amazing! You'll love it!" Lisa said as Chris and Scott came back out.

"Let's go people!" Chris said excitedly as we all walked inside. I sat on the couch next to Chris and he put his arm on the back of the couch behind me and I smiled at him.

We went through renditions of Scott and Steve singing Islands in the Stream, that was amazing. The kids did some Disney songs which I loved. Tara did Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and everything going amazingly.

"Okay newbie! You're turn!" Scott said and I laughed and stood up.

"Okay well you all came to play, and I feel like I'm at a disadvantage..." I said and everyone laughed.

Chris set the screen to pick a random song and it came up as a duet.

"Well I need someone to sing with me....Christopher...you haven't sung yet." I said and Chris laughed standing up. He looked at the song and sighed.

"You sure about this?" Chris asked me quietly and I just huffed a laugh.

"It's a song Chris..." I said and he sighed. The music started.

GENEVA:
🎵We could leave the Christmas lights up til January
And this is our place, we make the rules
And there's a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you dear
Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years?
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home
You're my, my, my, my
Lover

CHRIS:
We could light a bunch of candles
And dance around the kitchen, baby
Pictures of when we were young
Would hang on the wall
We would sit on the stoop
I'll sing love songs to you when we're eighty
See I finally got you now, honey
I won't let you fall

BOTH:
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home
You're my, my, my, my

CHRIS:
Lover

GENEVA:
Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand?
With every guitar string scar on my hand
I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover

CHRIS:
Look in my eyes, they will tell you the truth
The girl in my story, has always been you
I'd go down with the Titanic, it's true
For you, Lover

BOTH:
And you'll save all your dirtiest jokes for me
And at every table, I'll save you a seat, lover
Can I go where you go?
(CHRIS: Can I go where you go, baby?)
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home
You're my, my, my, my
Oh, you're my, my, my, my
Darling, you're my, my, my, my

GENEVA:
Lover🎵

Once we were done everyone was cheering and I just smiled at Chris, and he smiled back.

"Okay that was the cutest thing I have seen!" Tara said and we laughed as we sat back down, and Chris put his arm more around me than on the back of the couch. We listened to a couple more people sing and then Carly and the kids along with Tara and her family decided to leave and get the kids to bed.

"I should probably head out too. I have a night shift tomorrow and need to get some sleep." I said and Chris half nodded.

"I'll walk you out." Chris said and I nodded. I hugged Lisa, Scott and Steve.

As Chris and I walked to my car he took ahold of my hand. Once we reached my car I leaned on the driver's door, and he was in front of me.

"I had a great time tonight." I said and Chris smiled.

"Well of course you did, you won cornhole, was the best singer here...I mean is there anything you can't do?" Chris asked and I acted like I was thinking about it.

"Nope, I'm perfect." I said and we both laughed. Chris ran his thumb over my knuckles on the hand he was holding.

"Geneva, I want to pursue this, but I just got out of something horrible, and I don't want to jump right into the next thing." Chris said while he was looking at our hands together.

"Chris, I saw that all unfold. I'm not here to force you into anything. You don't want this right now that's fine." I said and removed my hand from him.

"I never said I didn't want it, I just don't know when." Chris said and I just half nodded. "And I didn't want to bring this up but there is also your age." Chris said and I just looked at him confused.

"I'm 31, almost 32..." I said and he groaned.

"Right, 10 years younger than me. I mean the last relationship I was in -..." Chris said and I held up my hand stopping him.

"You know what, forget it. I don't want to be with you if you're going to be comparing us to you and her. Thanks for the cookout, thanks for coming to my brother wedding." I said. I opened my car door and got in.

"Eva..." Chris said, and I just shook my head and pulled out of his driveway.
