A Cinderella Tail: A Mermaid Adventure

"Welcome Marcus and family!" Some guy in a suit comes greeting us.

"Dr. Reyford, this is my family" my dad smiles introducing us.

The man nods giving us all smiles, "how did you get so lucky to be surrounded by all these beautiful women?" he asks my dad as they both chuckle.

"I was blessed to have a beautiful fiancé and beautiful daughters." he says and I feel a slight stab in my chest. He called them his, his daughters.

"well may I introduce you to my wife" they start talking to one another while the twins walk away and I take this chance to slowly back away and explore the lab.

I see the signs that point the way to the marine bay and research labs 1-10. I walk around down the hall where there are security men in officer uniforms standing around. "sorry miss you can't go back here" one says in a deep voice and I nod giving him a smile.

"sorry" I spin around making my way back to the party. yay.

I walk around looking at the pictures of marine life the hung around to decorate the place, pictures of coral, sea turtles, sea horses, and everything under the sea. I stop looking at a painting of an old boat and big white sails that blend in with the clouds.

I look into the waves where a mermaid is hidden under the waves, her blue tail looks like a wave as she swims next to the ship. I smile at it as I feel a weird sense of pride, that's like my long lost sister or cousin now, we're basically family.

I continue walking through the party as I reach the table full of food and a bowl of blue punch with fish and shark gummies in it. I grab a cracker with some weird pink cream on it, I pop it in my mouth as the spice and shrimp taste fill my taste buds.

I hum as I finish it but now my mouth is slightly burning, it was good but I need water or something. I grab a cup as I walk over to the punch bowl behind a woman who gives me a kind smile.

She places the hand of the spoon down as I go and reach forward to grab it, the clear plastic handle slides down the side of the bowl falling into the water based liquid, well I wasn't that thirsty anyways.

"nice dress" someone comments from my left as I turn to look at a man who's button shirt is the same shade of sky blue as my dress.

"thanks, nice shirt" I give him a smile back.

"need a hand?" he asks reach over grabbing the edge of the wet handle putting it back on the little hook that keeps it out of the punch.

"oh, uhm no I was looking for normal water" I look up at the tall stranger, he has floppy brown hair that looks so soft and he smells like pine. Gosh men cologne just does something.

He rubs his chin making me notice the slight stubble across his jaw, "I can help you look? I know there's some water with lemon outside by the bar" he says looking right down at me with these emerald green eyes.

I bite my lip as I peel a little piece of skin off, "oh um, thanks" I down avoid the gaze of his eyes.

"I was actually headed out there now, I can grab you a glass as well?" he offers making a small flutter in my stomach.

A handsome stranger offering to grab me a drink, thats cute, "oh uhm, I'll go"

"where is that girl?" i hear a familiar voice making me tense up as I spin around and eye direct eye contact with Charlotte.

"COME OVER HERE AND STOP FLIRTING" I stand up taller as I put a smile back on my face.

"sorry gotta go, i'll see you around" I look back at him quickly giving him a sorry smile as I hurry behind Charlotte, over to my precious family.
