Goodness, what is happening to her?

It was only a kiss on the cheek.

Just on the cheek, she tried to tell herself.

What more if Caroline kissed her on the lips?

Madonna blinked, eyes wide from the wild fantasy that suddenly entered her mind. She shook her head, blood crawling up to her face, painting her cheeks a highlighted red. If anything, she should be the one to kiss Caroline's lips.

Wait, what?

Madonna groaned, shaking her head furiously to get rid of the ridiculous thought. With a huff, she turned the knob and pulled the door open, as she lifted her gaze, she was greeted by the sight of a very familiar pair of lips. She blinked, finding herself standing small inches away from...

"Caroline?" the name slips from her mouth.

Caroline was standing in front of her, their faces inches from each other, their dresses touching. Her cheeks immediately turned red at the sight of the fiery woman, lips quivering from how close they stood in front of each other.

"D-Donna!" the brunette stuttered, panicking. She quickly stepped away to leave a space between them, tucking her hair behind both of her ears.

Madonna blinked once then twice, trying to see if it was really Caroline standing in front of her, that her mind isn't making up another ridiculous fantasy.

She tilted her head "Is everything alright?"

Caroline nodded immediately "Yes, yes!"

"Then what brings you here?" Madonna asked, stepping out of the comfort of her home, closing the door behind her.

"I..." Caroline fiddled with her hands "I couldn't sleep and I saw you by the window, in the kitchen. I thought– I thought maybe we could talk."

Madonna sighed, she really has to do something about that damn window, get a curtain or something. She nodded "Talk about what?"

"Or you know just have tea. I– I apologize, did I wake you?" Caroline winced, she looked like she was going to explode any second because of how red her face was.

"You didn't even knock." Madonna said, raising an eyebrow "And do not apologize, you haven't done anything wrong." she stared at the woman.

Caroline was wearing a white nightgown that draped above her ankles, long sleeves that protected her from the cold night but from that distance, Madonna could tell the fabric was soft and thin. Thin enough that if she tried to touch Caroline through that dress, she would feel the warmth of her skin.

"I'm– I'm sorry, if you'd rather be left–"

"We can have tea." Madonna said "I do not find myself falling asleep any time soon, I think a soothing tea would help." she flashed a small smile.

Caroline looked up to her, a smile forming on her lips, her eyes sparkling "Really?" she asked and Madonna nodded in return "Oh! I have an idea!"

"Hm?"

"We can have tea in my garden!" Caroline quickly added "But of course, we can have it anywhere–"

"I think your garden sounds lovely, darling."

Caroline's face brightened, smiling from ear to ear and Madonna could tell she was excited to show her garden. It was the brightest smile she has ever seen Caroline display yet.

That smile was enough to warm the cold feeling in her chest. Caroline happily led the way into her own home with Madonna following right behind her, looking up to the tall trees not far from them.
