Chapter 1: The New Kid

"Oh, sweet Jesus Benjamin Franklin Rodriguez! Let your girlfriend hang out with her future mother in-law." Mya exclames while throwing her hands in the air.

'Future mother-in-law? What did Benny tell her, this time?' Kyla thought to herself looking at her blushing best friend.

"She's--She's not m-my g-girlfriend." He stammered before he walked up to his room and closed the door.

"Finally! I thought he'd never leave." She said as she handed Kayla a cup of her favorite tea causing the girl to thank the woman.

Mya: Did Benny tell you about the new cushions? She asked.

"Yes, he told me yesterday." She responded while sipping the tea.

"Great! He said you were an expert at fashion. Now, which color do you like?"

"Hmm, I think the white ones would go best." Kayla said thoughtfully.

Mya: I was thinking the same thing! But someone didn't agree with me. DONALD! I KNOW WHAT CUSHIONS I WANT! COME DOWN HEAR, DON'T MAKE ME SAY IT AGAIN! Thank you for your help, dear. You can go and see him now. She said as she wiggled her eyebrows.

"Thank you, Mrs Rodriguez."

Kayla walked up the stairs to Benny's room and knocked on the door three times. It was their seacret knock telling the other that the other person was there and not someone else. She heard a small 'come in' and opens the door to find Benny laid out on his back staring at the ceiling looking board.

"Finally!" He said as he sat up and looked at her as she closed the door.

"I was only gone for 30 minutes." She responded with her hands on her hips in a sassy manner.

"Well, it felt like an hour, Hermosa!" He said while throwing his hands in the air dramatically.

"Oh, you're sooo dramatic." She said while rolling her eyes and walked over to him.

"I know. Now, get your pretty ass over hear and come watch this movie with me." He said making her gasp.

"Rude! Do you talk to your mother with that mouth?" She asked as she sat down in-between his legs as he wrapped his arms around her and smirked.

"Let's just watch princess." He answered. He pulled her back into his chest and she looked up and kissed him on the cheek, making him smile.

In the middle of the movie Benny couldn't stop looking at Kayla. He thought she was the most beautiful girl in the neighborhood. He was not wrong, many boys had a crush on her and asked her out, but she only had eyes for one person. Kayla felt that he was staring at her and looked up at him making him look at the screen with a bashful blush.

She smiles and leans into his chest more making Benny's blush deepen.

"KIDS DINNER'S READY!" They heard his mom yell making Benny groan in annoyance.

"What's wrong?" Kayla asked as she stared into his chocolate brown eyes.

"It's nothing princess." Benny responded.

"Come on." He then effortlessly picked her up bridal style making her yelp in surprise and wrap her arms around her neck as he carried her downstairs and set her down when he got to the bottom. He did that a lot when he didn't want to tell her anything or he was just unhappy.

After dinner Benny said he would walk Kayla home. She would've declined but she new that Benny would have done it anyway no matter how hard she tried to ask him out of it.

Benny: Your--your welcome. He said while rubbing the back of his head with his hand.
