Dreams || Legolas - Final Part

Start from the beginning

"Y-you love me?"

He looks at you with a mix of surprise and confusion as you speak. "Of course, I do. You are more than the woman I love; you are the woman I need." His eyes are locked with yours now, his voice sounding full of emotion. "I don't just love you, (Y/n). I need to be with you. I can't imagine living my life without you by my side." He steps closer to you again, his body close to yours now. "But why do you ask now? Have you not felt the same for me all this time?"

"It's true that I have, but I didn't think my feelings were reciprocated."

"Oh, (Y/n)." His voice is soft and tender as he takes a step closer to you now. "My feelings for you are greater than I could ever express." He looks at you with a warm and sincere smile, and for a moment his eyes glimmer with emotion. "You were right when you said that we belong together. I have never felt this way about anyone before." His voice is filled with passion and love now, as he realizes just how much he has fallen for you. You are the person he wants to spend his life with. "I love you, (Y/n). More than words can describe."

"I-I love you too, Legolas, I always have..."

"Then why did you leave? You left me behind, alone, and unsure of whether I'd ever see you again." His voice is soft and tender now as if he is suddenly filled with regret. "I thought you were gone forever." He steps even closer to you now, his voice barely a whisper as he speaks. "Don't leave me alone again, (Y/n). I cannot bear the thought of losing you again." He cups your chin in his hands and looks at you with a mixture of love and longing in his eyes. "Please stay... stay with me. I need you."

"I left you because I had to, not because I wanted to. When you asked for your reward for winning that first archery contest to be a kiss, I really wanted to give it to you then and there, but I knew the heartache it would cause both you and me if I did and then had to leave. After that first meeting, I didn't know whether I would be coming back or not. I didn't want to leave you hopelessly in love with me and then never return, I didn't want you to die of a broken heart."

"So, you left... you left because you thought leaving would hurt me less than staying?" His voice sounds confused and frustrated now as if he can't understand your reasoning. "But I would have rather been with you for those few moments and then suffered a broken heart later, than have never felt that way at all." He looks at you with a gentle and understanding gaze, as if trying to understand your perspective. "I... I don't understand, (Y/n). Why would you rather make me suffer in a different way, rather than taking a chance on something that could've been so amazing?"

"Because this is all in my head, Legolas! This is, was, all a dream and every time I left, I was waking up in the real world, longing to see you again! I didn't kiss you that first time because I knew that I would leave myself truly and utterly in love with you, so much that I wouldn't be able to function! I was waking up every morning not knowing if I would ever see you again!"

"What?" There is a mix of anger and confusion in his voice now, as if he can't believe what he's hearing. "It was all just a dream? None of this is real?" He shakes his head slowly, as if trying to force the disbelief out of his head. "No, no. It can't be. You're real, right here in front of me." He looks at you as if trying to convince himself that everything is true. "You're alive, and standing right in front of me. There's no way this is a dream."

"I am real, Legolas, it's you that was a figment of my imagination."

He just stares at you for a moment as he tries to process these words. Could it be true? Is he just a figment of your imagination? Is there no real, physical Legolas in this world? "No, (Y/n). It can't be. I... I'm here, right here in front of you. It... it has to be real. This can't be a dream. This cannot be true." His voice trembles now, barely a whisper as he tries his best to convince himself that what you're saying is not true. It's just not possible.
