"T-thank you..." I murmur, looking down at the table as my blush grows deeper.
Suddenly two surprisingly soft fingers jerk my chin upwards, before tightening around my chin.

"Meet me here tonight. At seven- on the dot. I'm gonna take you on a date." My eyes widen, and I open my mouth to protest, but then he roughly lets go of my chin, leaning over the tiny table, his lips a hair's breath away from mine.
"And to shut up you up now...no is not an option...dress nice. And maybe you should put something over these nice legs of yours...," and I squeeze my eyes shut when I feel his hand trail up my thigh and under my dress," or...don't. It's your choice..."

And it feels like the world stops when a pair of lips lightly brush over mine. Not even a kiss, but enough to make me lightheaded. And then he's gone and out of the coffee shop and a held in breath escapes past my lips. I look around wide eyed, making eye contact with a few curious and shocked witnesses. I stand, blushing profusely, grabbing my book and pulling down my dress, blushing harder as I realize that maybe it was a little too short. I push through the doors of the coffee shop, looking around but seeing no sign of that boy. I will my legs to move down the walk, carrying me towards home. I button up my white cardigan over my dress. Pushing my hair over my shoulders as it brushes against the bare areas of my thighs. Keeping my eyes open and alert I hurry home seeing as it was starting to sprinkle and I cursed myself for not driving today. But luckily for me I'm home before the rain becomes too much of a downpour.

I look at my phone in horror, staring at the time it flashes- 7:01 and I push my legs faster down the sidewalk, feeling the urge to be as near as on time as I can to meet this boy. But as I near the small coffee shop, taking in his frowning figure sitting in the window seat that I was in earlier, I really wish that I didn't care so much to meet him.
Hesitantly I push into the small shop, a small bell signaling my entrance, from behind the counter the night's cashier smiles at me and I smile tentatively back before letting my eyes flick over to where the boy is sitting by the window, tapping his fingers slowly on the granite.
"Hello.." I mumble, slowly taking a seat across from him, smoothing out the skirt of my dress against my thighs.
" I told you seven- why the hell am I seeing you now at 7:04? Hm? When I give you a time...be on time." His eyebrows fall harshly into a frown, his eyes cold as they look over my face.
I open my mouth to explain my reason for being late but he holds up a hand in front of my face.
"Didn't ask. Let's go." And with that he stands, surprisingly holding out a hand for me to take. Grabbing onto his hand, I stand, pushing my chair back into the table, a blush coating my cheeks as he only tightens his grip on my hand instead of letting go.
He pulls me out of the coffee shop by the hand, letting our adjoined hands fall between us as he leads the way.

"Well, I'm Liam..." He speaks before he falls quiet again, leading me by the hand through the different twists and turns of the town until we come upon a small little shop- another coffee shop I suppose from one of the missing F's in the burnt out sign.

"Where exactly are we...Liam?" He shrugs, looking up at the sign with as much curiosity as I have.

"You mean that we are here alone and you have no clue where we are...Liam?" I look up at him appalled. He looks back down at me, shoulders hunched up until he lets them fall in a shrug.
Liam walks first into the small shop, eyes wandering around at the mismatched seating options and settles for a holey paisley printed booth in the back.
I look over the booth before sliding in opposite him, eyeing the empty space where a table usually is. I lift an eyebrow in question and receive yet another shrug from him and decide that being quiet is more than likely the best option until another question pops into my head.
"Why are you so quiet now? You were definitely really talkative..." I let my eyes fall on his face for a moment until he looks up to reply.
He shrugs," This may or may not surprise you but it actually takes a lot for me to be overly...like that...just wanted to make sure I had your attention...I guess.."

I raise my eyebrows, taking in actually how daunting his appearance his. Multiple tattoos litter his arms and his plain white shirt stretches over his arms and chest. He catches my looking him over and a small flicker of a smile dances on the corner of his lips before it falls and his eyes look away.
It's awkward between the two of us as we sit in the back of the dingy coffee shop, with no table in the middle of the moth-eaten paisley booth and nothing to spark conversation.

"Would you like to just take a walk?" I look up when he speaks, surprised by the sudden softness of his voice.

I shrug, standing as a verification of my answer.
He walks ahead of me, turning out of the coffee shop and down the walk, seemingly unaffected by the bite of the wind as it pushes against us.
Liam looks back over his shoulder, slightly slowing his pace to walk next to me
"You never told me your name earlier..." His eyes roam over my face, something genuine flickering in his eyes.
"Nivena. People like to call me Niv for short."
"That's pretty." He smiles to which I smile back.
"T-thank you." I give him a timid smile, wrapping my arms around myself.
We walk for what seems like hours; him pointing out his favorite graffiti works as we walk into the lower parts of town and me pointing out small dainty shops along the way. But as night falls the wind whips harder and it's about time to start heading home.

"Hey Liam...it's about time I get home now..." He looks over at me, nodding in agreement. He leads me through the darkening streets until we are again back at my coffee shop.
"Could I walk you home?" He looks at me with solemn eyes, fingers laced together behind his back.
I nod, a shy smile on my lips as walk ahead of him.
It's quiet as we walk side by side, and I try to keep calm as his arm brushes every so slightly against mine every few steps.
When we reach my small house, the street lights are welcoming small bugs and the porch light is calling me in.
"Thank you...for walking me home...its kind of dark and all..." I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear, blushing profusely at his amused gaze. Liam shrugs, his hand coming to tug at the hem of my dress.

"I still think you should cover your legs- I don't want anyone else looking at you." He sighs deeply," But you're welcome .."
And with that, his hands fall from my dress and he steps away before watching me slip inside.
From the kitchen window, I watch as he walks down the driveway, pausing in the middle of the side walk to pull out a cigarette and light it and continue to watch as he walks away and until I cant see the small light of his cigarette.

Maybe this guy wasn't as bad as people made him out to be.
