"Clean this room. Now," Victoria said coldly without looking at her. Marithe glared at her back but answered happily, "Yes, as you wish, Milady." Quickly, she took a broom and started cleaning while Victoria took something out of her drawer. When Marithe caught a glimpse of her hand, her eyes shone. "Milady, that is a very beautiful necklace. Where did you get that?"

"It's from nobody. Can you throw it away for me?"

"Yes, Milady," she said as she took the necklace from Victoria's hand gently and covered it with her handkerchief. "I'll be sure to throw this away. Excuse me." Marithe turned her back and smiled to herself excitedly without knowing Victoria was already aware of her reaction.

"Ha." When she left the room, Victoria's eyes turned cold. "I'll have that back soon."

Li came out of the bathroom all nice and clean, her messy long hair now braided neatly as she wore the clothes Victoria had personally picked out. She presented herself, and Victoria nodded in satisfaction. "It suits you."

"Thank you, Mistress."

"And I have a job for you. Come here." She motioned her finger back and forth, telling Li to come close to her. Li walked over and leaned towards her mistress.

"That maid cannot be trusted. So can you go and buy me something?" she asked, which surprised Li as they had the same thoughts about Marithe. "Yes, Mistress. I will follow your command."

Victoria whispered in her ear and gave her instructions, then handed her a coin purse. Li placed the purse inside her clothes and was about to leave when Victoria stopped her.

"Oh, one more thing."

Li stopped to look at her. "Play along with me." Before she could answer, she noticed Marithe coming back into the room.

"Milady, I successfully threw the—"

"Get out of the room and don't come back unless you buy the exact same mirror that you broke!" Victoria shouted, and Li was quick to act along with her mistress. "Please forgive me..." she ran outside, faking her tears as Marithe stood there, surprised by what had just happened.

"God, already made a mistake on the first task. How careless!"

"Milady, what happened?" she asked, pretending to be worried. "Oh, that stupid slave just broke my mirror. What a clumsy thing did I pick up on the market?! Ugh!"

"Don't worry, Milady. I won't be clumsy like her. You can count on me!"

"Really? Can I trust you, Marithe?" Victoria said with teary eyes. "Of course, Milady. You can trust me just like I trust you." Marithe smiled widely, believing this master of hers was really the stupid idiot from the rumor. But if only she knew just how much Victoria was laughing inside herself.

'Good.'

The night had already come as the moon shined brightly against the Duchy. Everyone was already asleep, except for two people. When Marithe left after seeing Victoria asleep on her bed, Li secretly passed her by and appeared to Victoria's bedside quietly.

"Li has brought back the things Mistress has asked for." Li said in a whisper as Victoria opened her eyes and sat up. Li placed the bag she carried on the bed and revealed all the stuffs Victoria asked for.

A dark blue, long-sleeved gown lay elegantly on her bed, its design a beautiful blend of Renaissance and Medieval European fashion. The bodice featured intricate gold embroidery and a fitted waist, emphasizing a regal silhouette. The sleeves were adorned with delicate lace trim at the cuffs, reminiscent of Renaissance style, while the skirt flowed in rich, layered fabrics typical of the Medieval era. A sapphire necklace and matching earrings completed the ensemble, their deep blue hues reflecting the gown's luxurious fabric. (Hehheehe, this is what I thought would suit her when she goes to the ball. Btw not my picture just showing you a reference. Credits to the original owner of this picture). Then there was a black trouser, a dagger with a leg sheath and a pouch filled with poison.

"But Mistress, why did you ask me for a dress?"

"We're going to the ball."

Victoria had already written down the exact dates of the upcoming events that happened previously. This one, was when they made her dress like a clown. And by a clown, I mean got her dressed in an overly fashioned dressed with lots of jewelry on her. She irked at those horrible memories where those people had mocked her and no one inside the ball was on her side. If her Father and brothers were there, would they also be like them? Would they be ashamed of her? Victoria shook her head and erased those thoughts.

Now wasn't a time for her to be thinking of those irrelevant thoughts.

"The rest of the plan will be written, I will hand it to you by tomorrow morning and by the time you finish reading it, burn it. Leave no traces behind." Victoria firmly said and Li took the things away and put them inside the bag again before bowing to her.

"Yes, Mistress, it will be done as you've said." Said Li before disappearing in her room. Victoria went back to lie down in her bed, facing front and looking up to the ceiling.

How could she even sleep when the nightmares of her past keep her wide awake?

That's all for today folk, hope you like it. And next week, I'll be going back to school so it may take a while for me to keep on writing this but I'll try my best to have time on continuing this work and possibly edit some of the typos and wrong grammars in my previous chapters.

But anyhow, bye😚~
