Kofi: Fatima, you don't have to spare my feelings. If all this hostility stems from me wanting to move in with y'all. You could've just said that! I'm a big boy, I can handle rejection… I'm used to it anyway (he mumbled).
Fatima: (sighs) Kofi, it's not even about that (she partially lies). Honestly, it's been a really long day! My feet and back hurt. I'm tired, hungry, agitated, horn– *cough* Nevermind.
Kofi: (smiles mischievously) nah we don't got to nevermind it. I heard you loud and clear! So basically, Zachary ain't doing what he supposed to be doing in the bedroom, huh? See, you should've led with that, because now it actually explains a lot of things.
Fatima: (annoyed) please stop speaking on shit you don't know anything about! What goes on in mine and Zac's bedroom, is nobody's business except the both of us! Forget what I said earlier, my tongue just slipped.
Fatima grabbed her laptop bag, along with her purse and access card as she prepared to leave out of the Finance department offices. Just as she was about to scan the card, someone from the outside had already opened the door - it was Zac.
Zac: hey baby. I was just coming to get you. Are you ready to go?
Fatima: yes babe, I am beyond ready to go home!
Zac: (chuckles) you miss him already, huh?
Fatima: (smiles) more than you know! (She steps out) come on, let's go. I'm pretty sure that your mom is already expecting us. It's way past 5:00 pm and we still have to beat the peak hour traffic.
** Kofi also followed her out. He was headed in the opposite direction of Zac and Fatima, until Zac stopped him.
Zac: aye cuz, wait up! How you just gon leave without telling me how your first day at Taylored Films was?
Kofi chuckles and looks at Fatima who is standing just a few steps behind Zac.
Kofi: my day was uhh… pretty good hey. Not nearly as hectic as I imagined.
Zac: wow, really? Seems to me like the hiring team made the perfect decision in choosing you for this position, because from what I've heard, the Finance department is arguably one of the toughest departments to work in.
Kofi: (chuckles) I hear you cuz, but honestly, I can't take all the credit. The work is definitely challenging, but luckily, I had the help and guidance of a beautiful and intelligent woman (he said looking at Fatima).
Fatima wasn't too far behind the pair of cousins, so she could still make out what was being said by each person. After Kofi made his flirtatious remark, Fatima looked away from them and avoided eye contact. Zac didn't notice, because his eyes were focused on his cousin.
Zac: aye Kofi man. Chill on all that beautiful shit! That's my WIFE and mother of my son!! Have a little bit of decorum my nigga.
Kofi: my bad cuz. I ain't mean no disrespect.
Zac: (stern) don't let that shit happen again bro. I don't play that shit when it comes to what's mine!
Kofi: you got it cuz. I really am sorry bro, but in my defense, I only used the word ‘beautiful’ for the lack of a better word.
Zac: (nods) I'm glad we have an understanding. Also, don't get it twisted bro. You are correct, she is beautiful, and I make it my business to let her know that everyday! That way it means absolutely nothing when it comes from another man.
Fatima grew tired of just standing in the same place, waiting for Zac to come so that they can go home. Therefore she reluctantly walked up to them.
Fatima: babe, I think that he got the point. Can we please just go home (she said while grabbing ahold of his arm). I've been in these heels all day, my feet are killing me (she whined).
