the unit is made up of the three co-leaders / the three top artists in the whole group. the three of them are the main producers and songwriters of the group as well, being responsible for most of the music making.

even though they've been an unit since their group debut, they "officially" debuted as a trio/unit on 04.27.2017 with the ep BLOODWASH.

maks and rhy-s' name together has been 2SU (suzuki makato and rhyland suwan) ever since idol junior.

bighit/hybe thought that debuting the two as a separate unit would be really good for the group, considering how popular the two as a duo already were.

the unit debuted with the single, TWO N ONE.

in may of 2018, their company finally had the idea of a girls and boy sub units.

after a lot of planning and work, the two debuted on the same date.

the boys, V3N0M, debuted with the album CRAZY TALK.

mars was given the leader position. maks and rhy-s were given the same positions, as they were already the main vocalist and rapper of the main group respectively.

along with the boys unit, the girls (TOX1C) debut with their album BEACH CRIES.

this album was completely different from the boys unit. this album was more soft and calm, with a summery vibe.

KIKI is still the leader, as she's the general leader of the whole group, leading her to be the leader no matter where she's placed. sunny is the main rapper, since she's the only girl in the rap unit, and stella is TOX1C's main vocalist.

although they are one group, these five "mini groups" are considered separate from VEX1C.

a majority of the time, the group's albums contain a dance unit song, rap unit song, vocal unit song, and multiple full group songs. occasionally a V3N0M and TOX1C song thrown into the mix. however, every now and then all units would be featured in their group albums.

other than that, the five sub units are just groups under VEX1C. they have their own comeback dates and their own activities, all separate from the main group.

they all follow the same HAUNTED WONDERLAND lore, each continuing the story from the comeback before.

this unfortunately means multiple, multiple comebacks a year, which is the furthest thing from healthy for these kids. however, they have gotten used to and accustomed to the work, making it easier as each comeback comes and goes.
