An ordinary Catnap x Dogday fic

- Part 1: A Deep Sleep -

On one dark and stormy night...

The Smiling Critters were on a sleepover. Nobody was able to sleep. They were terrified of the storm happening outside. A brave little one decided to speak up to gang.

Dogday: "Dont worry guys it will eventually slow down! i think..."

Dogday spoke in hopes for calming them down but... This didn't really help, as everyone was still scared including him. He was trying his best to cheer up the group in this cold dark night. Then suddenly... The door slowly opens. Every single critter was staring at the door nervously. Until they saw that it was

Catnap.

Everyone: "CATNAP!!!"

Everyone had now put on a smile on their faces. Cheering him. Catnap, with a creepy grin on his face, slowly breath out red smoke in the entire house. Causing all of the critters to slowly fall asleep. He then closed the door and walked inside the house to sit on the couch. He sat observing his friends as they sleep.

(Time pass)

Catnap was still on the couch observing every single one of his friends. Still having that creepy grin from when he opened the door.

Dogday slowly started waking up.. He is the most energetic one after all. Always waking up early. He opened his eyes. Seeing his friends sleeping with the red mist and Catnap inside the house. He closed his eyes acting like he was still sleeping to not get caught by Catnap. Catnap is always quiet and Dogday kinda wants to try talking. But something tells him that may be a bad idea.

Catnap saw Dogday opening his eyes, but he decided not to say anything and played along with it. Dogday, a short while after got enough courage to slowly take off the blanket and speak to Catnap. Catnap was looking at the others while he was doing so. He didn't notice it until Dogday started speaking.

Dogday: "Hey.. Catnap?"

Catnap slowly and ominously turned his head to Dogday, Keeping his creepy grin and position on the couch. Catnap didn't respond. Dogday didn't like this a single bit but he kept going anyway. In hopes of becoming closer friends with Catnap.

Dogday: "You don't sleep right?"

Catnap turned his head looking at the red smoke spread around the house. He still didn't respond. He just turned his head to Dogday again. Dogday didn't get a answer so he asked another question.

Dogday: "Can you even talk?"

Catnap nodded in agreement, but he yet again didn't speak. Dogday was nervous. But he kept talking to Catnap anyway.

Dogday: "It's okay if you don't want to."

Catnap kept his quiet. Now looking at the floor. Although he looked like he had something to say... He didn't. Dogday was gonna try his luck once again.

Dogday: "I guess you really don't enjoy talking huh..."

Catnap looked around, trying to avoid that. Dogday pulled his blanket a little closer and got in it more. He gave up and was about to sleep. Perhaps nobody will ever get to know this purple feline...

However...

Catnap, feeling like not being able to avoid talking for much longer decided to finally speak up.

Catnap: "...Yes"

Catnap's voice was a deep whisper. Dogday, after finally hearing Catnap speak and getting an answer to his question, spoke with a slightly happy tone. Not too much since he thought that would be embarrassing.

Dogday: "Oh! I see.."

Dogday was very surprised that he answered at all. Now he wanted to ask questions.

Dogday: "Is this red gas supposed to make us sleep?"

Catnap looked around. There wasn't much of it left in the room. He turned back to Dogday and spoke.

Catnap: "Yes... Now.. I think you got what you wanted... You should sleep..."

But Dogday hesitated to sleep. He wanted to ask Catnap more. And he did...

Dogday: "So.. Do you just... Sit there and... Watch us every night?"

Catnap found that funny. He doesn't usually do this.

He was getting tired of these questions.

He got off the couch slowly walking to Dogday whilst saying..

Catnap: "Okay puppy... Listen... Maybe its time to rest now..."

Dogday was scared of Catnap's sudden movement and got a little startled. He looked at the window, the storm was still there and it was still the middle of the night. Catnap hopped on Dogday, Dogday jumped again. Catnap pulled Dogday's blanket all the way up and right as he was about to ask something.. Catnap spoke again.

Catnap: "Now is time to sleep... Puppy..."

Dogday didn't want to sleep yet. He wanted to ask more questions, but Catnap was scaring him now. so he decided to close his eyes and wait.

Catnap: "I won't use the gas on you... Enjoy getting to sleep by yourself... Just this once..."

Dogday understood he's not getting any answers. Catnap was sitting next to Dogday now avoiding looking at him. Dogday thought maybe it IS the best to take some rest right now, so he did.

Catnap just sat there, when he was sure that Dogday slept he looked at him. Catnap looked at Dogday with a normal smile. Catnap thought to himself...

Catnap: "You're different from the others... More brave... Let's see how this will escalate..."

Catnap then got off the couch after diving into his own thoughts and slowly walked to the door. He left slowly closing the door while staring at the critters. Mostly Dogday...

When he was walking home he remembered something...

Catnap: "Hmm... Bubba's birthday is tomorrow is it not...

Nothing i care about..."

Catnap said to himself...

I wanted to keep the first part like the VHS tape. Rest of it will be original. If you read the parts before rewrite they will be pretty similar. Just more polished and with new parts.
