MARS of VEX1C was seen smoking inside of his new york apartment.

mars has been on hiatus since late december due to his sister being sick. because of this, mars and his family had to move to new york temporarily to make sure his sister gets the best care. the artist is currently staying in a separate apartment from the rest of his family.

on march 20, photos and videos of mars smoking inside of his apartment began to circulate around the internet.

mars has released a statement on his most recent instagram post on the next day:

"hello everybody! i'd just like to address the photos and videos going around all platforms.

they are unfortunately not edited, and it is in fact me smoking in the comfort of my apartment.

it's a habit that i developed as a way to deal with the stress of my little sister being hospitalized. i'm aware it's not the best way to handle the issue. i too am aware that this act is illegal in new york and am prepared to face the consequences that come with it.

i hope you can find it in you to still support me.

thank you and i'll be back soon!!

there has been many different reactions, ranging from disgust to pure worry for mars' health, along with plenty of criticism regarding the artist's decision.

HYBE ENTERTAINMENT has yet to say anything about the issue.
