"soobin?" soyeong let out a noise of confusion, standing from her bed to walk towards her desk. "how'd you figure that out?" he questioned begrudgingly, seemingly a bit jealous she had already found her couple.
"not important," she shrugged, glaring up at the boy as he waved his hand over the white and gold carousel decoration on her desk, the pink cloud around it causing it to move on its own. "would you stop that? just because you're of age doesn't mean you should be using your magic for anything under the sun." she shook her head.
a cupids magic was an odd concept. well maybe to humans who seemed to have an odd perception of how cupids work.
it was hard to explain, but in short; making people fall in love wasn't the only thing they were able to do. aera had read enough fantasy books to learn that they were quite similar to the characters that were magically inclined, although they could never use their magic to hurt anyone.
it was less extravagant than the books made it out to be, really. they could move things with a wave of their hand, enchant objects to make them more enticing- they could even sort of teleport to a certain place when most needed.
the only downside was that you had to be of age to properly use your magic. there was a very small amount of things you'd be allowed to do legally by passing tests during upperclassmen cupid training, but you only really get to do the fun things when you're of age.
luckily for soyeong and aera they were both above the age requirement, having passed all their tests with flying colors. although the magic didn't really make sense on earth seeing as they wanted to fit in, it was still a convenient thing to have.
"oh! great, you're both in here!" they hadn't even realized that yeonjun had made his way into the house, soyeong quickly waving his hand over the carousel to stop the charm he had put on it, leaning against aeras desk to cover it up.
"yeonjun? what are you doing here?" aera squeaked as she slammed her journal closed, turning around in her chair. neither of the cupids did a very good at seeming unsuspicious, but if yeonjun noticed, he didn't comment on it.
"we have this thing at our schools in this area, a radio show called 'cupids secret corner' and we put on a big festival every semester," he began to explain, inviting himself into the room and hovering around aeras bed. "is it okay if i sit?" he questioned, smiling when aera nodded in confirmation and plopping himself down. "my older sister created the whole thing back when she was a junior cause she's known as like the 'human cupid' or whatever so now it's a big deal." he rolled his eyes, running a hand through his hair.
aera almost giggled at the stark contrast between yeonjuns all black outfit and hair against baby pink comforter, running a hand over her mouth as she nodded along with a smile. "sounds interesting." interesting was truly an understatement.
the use of the word "cupid" and the way he had referred to his sister as "human cupid" nearly had her bursting into giggles in itself, the idea just a tad bit silly for aera to take seriously. she could tell soyeong had taken it an entirely different way than she had, the boy squaring his shoulders as a scowl found his face.
it was a bit odd, the way yeonjun coincidentally brought up the idea of a cupid based festival their first day of school. aera couldn't help but find it a bit suspicious, but perhaps she was just trying her hardest not to get caught. the idea of being found out haunted her, not only because it would be a lot to explain, but also because she would most likely be considered some sort of "freak" amongst the humans.
"it's really fun, you guys should look into the CSC committee. i sort of need your guys' help anyways," soyeong and aera shared an apprehensive look, a bit afraid of what was about to come out of the males mouth. "i need you two to help convince nana to cater for it. everyone in town loves her cafe but every time i ask her to she tells me no." he continued, rubbing his hands against his jeans.
aera let out the breath she was holding in, a warm smile taking over her features as she relaxed in her place. "so you think we'd be able to help you get her to agree?" she hummed, tilting her head. yeonjun bit his lip, nodding in confirmation.
"i hardly think we'll be much help in this equation," soyeong scoffed, pushing himself off of aeras desk and crossing the room to stop in the doorway. "im sure aeras up for grabs, but i've got better shit to do." he called over his shoulder before leaving the room completely, rendering yeonjun dumbfounded.
"don't mind him, he's sort of... always like that," the cupid grimaced, running a hand down her face. "i'll help you though, don't you worry." she was quick to send him a warm smile, a warm feeling filling her stomach when he sent a beaming smile in her direction.
"you are a lifesaver, bae aera. i promise you, i'll pay you back tenfold!" he exclaimed as he jumped up from her bed, sending her an excited thumbs up before leaving the room as well.
aera was more than happy to help the humans, as long as it meant they didn't suspect anything about hers or soyeongs true identities. she just hoped it wouldn't get in the way of the initial reason she was here.
