Annabeth walked over to you, bouncing with every step; the beaming look never once left her face while she looked at you. "You ready?" She asked eagerly, which you responded to by flashing her a smile and nodded, which was returned.
Before stepping out, Annabeth offered her hand, which you took in a heartbeat as you intertwined them and walked out of your cabin to the big house. Annabeth explained that Mr. D and Chiron were already there, waiting for both of you to arrive.
You watched as you two finally approached the big house. Chiron's back was visible to you and Percy, who stood beside him. Your (e/c) eyes met with a sea-green colored one, which made you smile gently as you waved a hand to Percy, whose face quickly brightened up at the sight of you.
The dark-haired boy waved his hand back to you, greeting you with a look of relief. The friendliness between you two didn't go unnoticed by the blonde, who looked at you with disbelief before shooting Poseidon's son a scowl.
You could feel Annabeth's grip tighten around your hand; the sudden action made you look away from Percy and back to her. You wonder what had gotten her so tense, and the sour look on her face made you even more confused.
Percy's gaze followed yours as you looked away from him, but he was met with Annabeth's harsh stare as she eyed him, judging. Her attitude offended him, and he quickly returned the sour look at her while crossing his arms.
"You know, we've been waiting for a quest for a long time, seaweed brain," Annabeth huffed suddenly, making you stiffen as you realized the tension between your friends. "Athena is no fan of Poseidon, but if you're going to save the world. Me and (Y/n) will be the best people to keep from messing up!" Annabeth spoke with her hand on her chest.
Percy's lips pursed before his hands fell to the side. "If you say so yourself," He mumbled a bit before looking at them smugly. "I suppose you've got a plan, Wise girl?" Percy said with a lingering sarcasm.
You sweat dropped, and you watched as Annabeth's eyes widened, her cheeks slowly turned red as her eyebrows knitted together and her teeth clenched while grumbling. "Do you want our help or not!?" She yelled back, squeezing your hand tightly as your face scrunched slightly.
Percy looked to the side, his face scrunching up as if he was thinking about it. You looked back at the boy with a neutral facial expression. You stared at him with a concerned look, wondering if he didn't want your help.
The thought saddened you, which Percy noticed quickly, and his lips moved slightly downward when he saw your face. His face soon softened before speaking, "A quartet, huh?" Percy hummed, which perked your attention as you looked back at him.
"That'll work," Percy said with a faint smile as you two looked at each other. Percy's words made you smile once more and you looked back at Annabeth, who let out a relentless sigh and just nodded, which pleased you.
"Excellent," Chiron's voice said, interrupting as he walked forward, his hands clasped together while he looked at the three of you. "This afternoon, we'll take you as far as the bus terminal in Manhattan. After that, children, you are on your own," Chiron spoke clearly as a loud crash of lightning zapped through the distance.
You glanced back at the violent weather, something you hadn't noticed getting worse as you spoke. A feeling of concern as you watched it start pouring heavy rain over the meadows that never had been poured down like this.
Chiron's eyes narrowed at the harsh weather before speaking up. "There's no time to waste," he said sternly while walking over to you and Annabeth as he rushed you up to the porch with Percy. "You should all get going to the upper hill; Grover is waiting there," Chiron explained while handing a small bag to Percy.
It was apparent by the medic logo on it that it was probably filled with nectar and ambrosia for when you guys get injured. One last sound of lightning ripping through the sky was enough to get you three all in a hurry to the hill where Thalia's tree stood and meet up with Grover.
Up the hill was Argus, the security guard, and Chiron, who made you wonder how he got there so quickly. "Percy, this is Argus," Chiron said, gesturing to the blond man in a chauffeur outfit with multiple eyes pointing out his face and hands.
Percy looked startled by the man's appearance and a little pale while Chiron said, "He will drive you children into the city and, well....keep an eye on things." Chiron sighed as his words sounded like a bad pun intended for August.
"Hey!!!" A distant shout came from behind you. Out of curiosity, you turned your head to see Luke running up the hill towards you guys with a pair of basketball shoes in hand. Your eyes sparkled when you saw Luke panting as he finally reached the top.
Luke's voice gasped slightly as he raised his head. "I'm glad I caught you," Luke said while no longer hunched over, a small smile plastered on his face. "I wanted to say good luck and thought maybe you could use these," Luke said while speaking to Percy's hand, handing him the basketball shoes.
Percy held the shoes with a confused look before Luke shouted, "Maya!" Loudly, this startled Percy at his raised voice. Soon, the shoes grew white wings from the heels. This made Percy shriek and dropped the shoes from the sudden surprise.
You watched amusingly as the shoes flapped around the ground like a fish gasping for air until the wings folded back and disappeared. A bit dumbfounded, Luke stared at the shoes before shaking his head and chuckling.
Grover stared at the shoes in awe while Luke said, "Well, those shoes served me well when I was on quests! A gift from my dad," Luke explained with a smile. "Of course, I don't use them much these days..." Luke paused.
You and Annabeth glanced at each other, giving grimace looks before Percy voice snapped you from your thoughts "Thanks," the dark-haired boy said, interrupting the silence, which made Luke make a mixed expression.
"A lot of hopes are riding on you, so just kill some monsters for me, alright?" Luke said with a cautious look while Percy nodded his head firmly before they both shook hands.
Luke then moved to pat Grover's head and then to you and Annabeth, making him smile more comfortably. "Take care of each other while you're away, okay?" Luke said with a gentle look as he opened his arms up. You and Annabeth quickly tackled him to a hug, both of you holding to a side of him while his arms wrapped over both of you and letting out a laugh.
"We'll take care," You mumbled to his side, holding onto him like a koala; Annabeth looked like she was doing the same as she nodded in agreement due to your comment. Luke grinned slightly before ruffling your hair in a brotherly fashion, causing a huff for Annabeth as her hair got ruffled.
"When you guys come back....." the blonde male said, his voice trailing as his hands slowly paused when ruffling your hair, looking like he was in thought. "W-we'll make a small campfire, just us, and then you'll tell me all about your quest," Luke stuttered a bit, which was odd. He soon ruffled your hair once more before letting go.
Luke's plan excited you, and even though you hadn't technically left camp yet, you looked forward to coming back to sit with your two friends and chat over a fire where you'd probably make s'mores! The same thought process went to Annabeth's head as she smiled and nodded.
Luke then left you four at the hill and walked back to camp. The four of you then made your way to the other side of the mountain at the bottom, where a white SUV was parked at the edge.
Grover reached the passenger seat door, holding onto the handle with a smile as he got there. He made you chuckle while Annabeth playfully rolled her eyes at the childish action. You, Annabeth, and Percy shuffled your way into the back. The two Demi-gods making you sit in the middle, claiming not to want to be next to each other.
This time, it was your turn to sigh at their childish behavior as Argus started the car, which began rolling forward. Your eyes stared at Thalia's tree before it filled with a hopeful glint; you really hoped this quest would turn out great.
