Before we start, let me say THANK YOU for clicking on this book and wanting to celebrate a milestone with me. In case you didn't know, my account is turning 10 years old this 2024! This means that Exequinne has been around for as long, and man, I am ancient.
That said, I wanted to do something worthwhile with this celebration, and I thought of nothing but an award that celebrates amazing and noteworthy stories and authors on Wattpad.
You might remember me from that review stint I did a few years back, and I thoroughly enjoyed the engagement I had on them. So, why not try again and have myself connect with awesome people along the way?
So, you now have this contest that brings you no prestige, bragging rights, or anything flashy. Instead, I will be doing what I do best: I will read your entire story and give you thoughtful feedback. If you want examples on what I would point out, scour The Pink Alpaca Reads somewhere in my account. That is, if you can find it under all those 10 years worth of rubble. XD
There will also be TWO categories in this contest that you can enter provided you meet the eligibility criteria for them. These categories are The Rookie Cadets and The Seasoned Veterans.
The Rookie Cadets will be for those who are just starting on Wattpad and/or writing a book in general. These are authors who haven't won anything since opening their account, be it user-run contests or Ambassador contests, and their skills haven't been validated elsewhere. The competition is less fierce, but that doesn't mean you can rest easy!
The Seasoned Veterans are, as expected, those who have been writing for more than 3 years and have stories on their profile that have previously won a bunch of things. People who got into various Wattpad programs (Ambassadors doesn't count) are also recommended for this category.
Why the divide? Because rookies and veterans do not necessarily write the same thing with the same skill. We are all on different journeys, and sometimes, it is disheartening to see the same people win every time. I know this might sound divisive (like, you might be waving your proverbial stick at me saying, I wanna test my skills against the veterans, but because of this, I can't! Fite me!!!), but trust me, it breaks my heart to see stories that have the potential to be recognized but were pitted against a literature megalodon end up being ignored. I wanted to give as many spots for validation as I can because I've been there before. More information will be provided in the Eligibility Criteria, so watch out for that part.
There will also be several Length Categories, namely:
Short Story/Novelette

Any entries that are prose and have a word count that is between 17,501 - 40,000 words are welcome.Novel
Any entries that are prose and have a word count that is beyond 40,000 words are welcome.
So, if you have no qualms about that, let's kick the door open for an exciting initiative. Let the fun begin!
