You...what?" I halted on my way down the stairs. I couldn't recognize my own voice. The situation was a damn hard pill to swallow. Ambivalence etched upon my voice. My expression is one of rage. Pure rage. My parents, if I can even refer to them as such anymore, bore their sick eyes into mine. My eyes screamed for answers. My right hand grasps the handrail. "Did I mumble?" Still no answer. Both of them stare at me dumbfounded.
A throat clears. My father is the first to speak up. "Pack your bags." My jaw clenches. If you cry now, you're only giving them power over you. Suck. It. Up. I do not dare move. I shake my head in defiance, "Answer me. What. did you. say."
He sighs. He actually fucking sighs. As if he's the one exhausted here. "GO ON FATHER. TELL YOUR ELEVEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HOW YOU'RE SELLING HER FOR A QUICK BUCK." I shout mockingly.
My mother-the bitch chimes in, "Lower that damn tone and watch your tongue." Now she wants to play loving mommy.
I cracked a cruel smile. I nod towards my bitch mother and fuck-face father. "Drugs, right?" Their eyes widened. Oh, that is just hysterical. My mother chokes, "Wh-what...?" The cruel smile dies down.
A dead-panned expression replaced it. "You sold me for more drugs. The drugs that are causing you to become bankrupt." The horrifying realization in their widened eyes never waver. Unbelievable how they took me for a fool.
In the back of my mind I always knew this surreal day would come. My drug addicted parents would snap. "The only price high enough was me, right?" I ask rhetorically. I nod again, already predicting their response.
I turn around and make my way to the top of the stairs. I walk towards the balcony towering over our living room. I jump. I would rather die. My body hits a surface, but not the ground. A bodyguard cushioned my fall. I thrash around in the man's hold. With the snap of my father's fingers I'm carried away.
The car slowed to a stop. The man stated his name and who he worked for to the speaker. After confirmation the mansion gates open. The car rolls through the giant gates. Now it begins. My harsh awakening to how cruel the world can be.
