When I woke from my peaceful slumber the room was dark. The only source of light was from the moon outside the large window near Lupin's bed. There was steady breathing transpiring from my right. I looked over and saw James's silhouette, or, so I inferred it to be James, considering this was his bed. He was curled up in a weird, fetal-like position, hugging his pillow, murmuring what sounded like: 'Lily,' 'abstinence' and, 'love you.' This boy was a keeper....
I didn't mind the fact that he was laying in the same bad as me. James and his family used to go camping with me and my family all the time. Every time, no matter what, we would always end up sharing a bed, so yeah, I was pretty much used to his stranger-than-life sleeping habits.
I glanced around the room. All of the other boys were laying in their beds as well. I contemplated whether to wake up James or not. A few seconds later, with barely any thought, I came to a conclusion. I am waking James up even though I have no reason to.
"James..." I whispered, shaking him a bit violently on his arm, "James wake up!"
"Five (breath, exhale)...more (breath, exhale)...minutes (breath, exhale),...Mum (Long exhale)" he groaned, his voice groggy from sleep
"I am not your Mum, you dim-wit, its Lucy." I retorted, emphasizing the words 'Mum' and 'Lucy.' James was not the best at getting up after sleeping.
"Oh...sorry Lucy, what do you need?" he asked, a little bit of annoyance sounding in his question. He sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. He looked at the muggle alarm clock on his bed side table. The time read 1:43, he groaned with frustration and looked back at me, "Really, you couldn't have waited six more hours?" He joked.
I ignored his second question and answered the first one, "I'm bored, and hungry, and tired..." I complained, "And why am I laying in bed with you? Not that its a problem, or anything, but you could have woken me up..." I trailed off.
"Well, Moony, Wormtail, and I came up here looking for Padfoot to see if he wanted to go Hex some Slytherins," He said the last word in disgust, "But, instead we found you guys up here sleeping, so we left. Later, we came back to go to bed, and you were still here. You were sleeping so peacefully I didn't want to wake you up, so I crawled into bed with you." He shrugged and asked, "Do you want to go down to the kitchens, or something?" A little bit too loudly, earning himself a "Shh" from Remus and a pillow in the face from Sirius's direction.
"Can I come as well?" he asked after throwing the pillow. He was already out of bed, not waiting for us to respond, following us out.
James threw his invisibility cloak over the three of us, It was a tight fit. The mysterious cloak was originally made for one full grown adult, not three young adults, two of them being two abnormally tall teenage boys. To make it work, we had to walk either bent at the knees or at the waist, with basically all body parts touching one another, but that was far better than getting caught and facing the consequences.
We staggered down the boys' dormitory steps and crept through the common room. There were only two people in there, Frank and Alice, and they were getting pretty darn close to each other. We opened the Fat Lady's portrait and stepped out. She didn't notice a thing, her monstrous snores continued to echo through the corridor as we continued on our way. We scurried down the many flights of stairs trying not to trip over the endless obstacles we presented ourselves. Soon enough, we found ourselves standing in front of a portrait of fruit. James took off the invisibility cloak, folded it, and put it in his robe pocket.
Sirius reached out and tickled the pear. The fruit giggled and granted us entrance. The portrait swung open and almost hit James in the face, these portraits have an affinity of doing so. We walked into the large kitchen filled with elves. A particular elf, named Neve, came over as soon as we walked in.
