"Anong oras ang lunch break mo?" he ask while I took off my lab coat, I have to get this in the dry clean because it has blood stains, nasa bahay ang ibang lab coat ko.
"Now, maliligo lang ako, I can smell blood and medicine mix together with my perfume and it's not a pleasant smell" I said and got a new pair of clothes to change and went to the bathroom here in my office.
"Let's eat outside, susunduin natin si Glyde" I heard him say
"Okay!" I said and got in the shower

"Mommy! Papa Xest!" Glyde came running to us when she spotted us. She was wearing her cute uniform, her hair was put in a pigtail bun with a pink bow on each bun. She was not really in school kasi three years old palang siya, more like playroom, mom enrolled her in a playroom so that she can experience having fun with other children her age.
Xest carried Glyde and kiss her in the cheek "Hi baby, I miss you." Xest snuggles Glyde's neck
" I miss you too papa, you haven't visit since my birthday its been this many days, I miss you" she puts up ten fingers to indicate how many days Xest hasn't visited us.
"I'm so so sorry baby, I've been busy with my work in the Philippines, but I'm here now aren't I and we're eating in a restaurant!" pang uuto ni Xest sa anak ko
"I will forgive you, if you buy me vanilla ice cream" my daughter negotiated. What a smart kid!
"Vanilla ice cream it is!" masayang sabi ni Xest, Glyde also cheers along with him.
He led us into his car. Binigay niya si Glyde sakin and pinag buksan kami ng pinto, he held the door for us, I bent down to get in and I notice his other hand above the car to prevent us from bumping our heads, he only closed the door after we settled inside, he put Glyde's back pack in the back seat before turning to the driver's seat.
Xest was a gentleman indeed, his showing my daughter princess treatment and also me because sabi nga niya "I do those thing not because pakitang tao ako, I do it because I don't want you or maybe Glyde someday to settle for less" he voice echoed in my ears "I can give the both of you anything you want in life, and I can support Glyde kung ano man ang gusto niya sa buhay so that she won't seek validation from someone else kasi I can give it, and so that she will not settle for people who can't even respect her much more provide for her needs and wants, 'cause someday she will look for those characteristics that was shown to her in early age, kasi yun ang nakasanayan niya, that's why I do those things kasi for sure she will not settle for something that is less sa nakasanayan niya."
I was moved by what he said, it was last Christmas and we went to Disneyland. I didn't spend a single penny because Xest took care of everything and he said those things because I complain of him always prioritizing us before him. I think he's also the reason why Glyde never ask about her real father because Xest is more than enough. Pero hindi ko alam kung hangang kailan magtitiis si Glyde, she's smart I'm sure that one day she will ask questions about her dad, question that I don't have an answer to because even I don't know who he is, and I hope I will never know.
Nag nakarating kami sa restaurant agad na bumaba si Xest para alalayan uli kami ni Glyde and when we settle siya na ang nag presinta na kumarga kay Glyde so I gave him my daughter before walking towards the entrance of the restaurant.
We ate our food while talking about how everyone's day, salitan kaming sumusubo ni Xest kay Glyde.
"I had a fun day and I made new friends!" Glyde shared while I got some mash potatoes and a small slice of steak before feeding it to her. She raise her thumb up as if to say the food is yummy. I laugh at how messy she eats, kahit sinusubuan na nga madumi parin.
While eating Xest phone rang
'Rhyke-asshole' I read in my mind, maybe one of friends, he answered it and put it on speaker so that he can listen while feeding Glyde.
"What?" Xest ask in an annoyed voice, Glyde look up at him and he gave her an apologising smile.
"Where the fuck are you asshole?"
Mabilis na tumingin si Xest sakin at sa phone, analysing what my reaction's gonna be when his friend cuss. I never liked it when Glyde hear a single profanity, I have a rule that everyone of my family and friends cannot cuss when Glyde is around. Kids tend to copy what they heard and see so I never ever want to hear a single profanity when she's around.
"Papa what's fuck is that a place?" yun na nga ang sabi ko eh, she's a curious kid and she likes to learn new things.
"Was that a child? Did she just called you papa? What the fuck man--. Mabilis na pinatay ni Xest ang phone at tumingin kay Glyde.
"Glyde you should not say that word ever again okay babe?" I smiled at my daughter.
"Why, what does that mean?" she turn to me
"It's a bad word, only adult are allowed to say that word" mahinang paliwanag ni Xest.
"If it's a bad word why are adults allowed to say it?" curious nitong tanong.
"Becau--
"Shush" I hush my daughter and stopping Xest to say anything else. "Let's eat the food before it gets cold, I don't want to be upset on my birthday" l said in a strict tone.
"Sorry, Happy birthday mommy!" pag babago ni Glyde sa usapan at pag papagaan niya sa mood. She always do that when she knows I'm angry.
I smile and go along " Thank you baby" I said then feed her some mash potatoes with small slices of steak.
After eating Xest ordered a red velvet cake for dessert and as promise he also ordered vanilla ice cream for Glyde. Habang kumakain si Glyde ng ice cream I caught Xest eyes.
"Sino ba yung tumawag sayo?" I ask, everyone of Xest friend that I know about knows about Glyde calling him papa and him visiting her here.
"Rhyke" He simply said clearly avoiding the topic.
"Be specific" may diin na sabi ko. I may not have the rights to act that way to Xest because we don't have that kind of relationship, but we're honest and have a mutual relationship.
He sigh "Isa sa mga kaibigan ko" I raise my brows at him "please don't force me to say it" he pleaded
"Don't make me upset" I said and cross my arm
"Siya ang ama ng anak mo" he said bowing his head, I froze at what he said
"Ano sabi mo?" I ask trying to stop my voice from cracking
"Tha't exactly why I didn't want to tell you in the first place" he sigh
"Does he know?" I breath out a question
"I think may idea na siya noon pa, kasi palagi ka niyang tinatanong sakin, nung umalis ka nang umagang yun may nakakita sayo na lumabas ng bahay at nakita din nila ako na sinusundo ka, when Rhyle woke up he ask the maid where you were and they told them you're with me, palagi ka niyang tinatanong sakin noon and I would just lie outright but I know he didn't buy it, he would always try to catch me to tell on you but I would always say I have no connection to you after that day, and now I think he's making conclusion in his head." mahabang paliwanag niya, sinadya niyang mag tagalog para hindi siya maintindihan ni Glyde.
"Mahahanap niya ba kami pag nag tago kami ng anak ko?" I ask breath shaking
"There is nowhere to hide pag isang Accardi ang nag hanap" he said lowering his voice " lalo na si Rhyke Vasq Accardi"
