Three Months Before the Premiere
"I don't really know what to say." I picked at my salad as I sat across from Colt in a crowded restaurant. "You basically know everything about me already."
Colt just chuckled, slurping a spoonful of soup excessively loud and causing me to giggle. "What?"
I just ducked my head as a few people at nearby tables turned to glare at Colt. He didn't seem to notice. "You're slurping." His face turned red and he glanced around apologetically. I just laughed. "Aww, Colt."
He reached his hands forward and I took them in my own. He had a guilty smile on his face. "Sorry." I dug into my bag for my wallet and Colt watched me curiously. "What are you doing?"
"Excuse me?" I waved down a waiter and asked for the bill. He looked confused, considering we had only just started appetisers, but did as I asked nonetheless. I turned back to Colt. "Let's go somewhere else." He still looked unsure. "I appreciate the fancy restaurant, but I think fish and chips on the beach is way more your style."
Colt's eyes lit up and he grinned at me, his eyes full of adoration. "Sounds good." I put a fifty dollar bill in the book. The waiter quickly returned with the change and Colt and I wasted no time in leaving the establishment. I let out a breath when we made it into the cool night air.
We made our way down to the beach, hand in hand. When we reached the fish and chip shop, Colt insisted on paying. I let him; he was very adamant about it.
After we got the food, we made our way down to the beach. I took off my sandals when we reached the sand and led Colt over to a picnic bench. There were a few other people here, who clearly had the same idea, but the crashing waves were so loud we could barely hear them.
"I don't think I could ever move from here," I stated, sitting down. Colt looked at me curiously as he unwrapped the food from the butcher's paper. "It's just so pretty here."
"Yeah." Colt nodded in agreement. "If it weren't for work, I probably wouldn't go back to LA."
I glanced up at him, a small twang in my chest. "You're going back?" I don't know what I had expected. He lived in America, his apartment was there, his family was there. How could I have just assumed he would pack up and leave all that?
He stared at me for a couple minutes, to the point where I was beginning to feel uncomfortable. "I never really thought about how this would work after we finish production."
My heart began to sink.
"You should visit, before you completely rule it out." I nodded. I was going to do everything in my power to make this work. And as much as I didn't want to live in Los Angeles, I would do it... For Colt.
"You know what? I don't really mind where I am." Colt's eyes widened at my sudden change of heart. "Just as long as I'm with you." He smiled happily, the gesture reaching all the way to his eyes. "Let's eat before it gets cold."
"Don't worry," Colt said, picking up a chip and biting off the end. I watched him in amusement as he inspected it. "This is gonna be all gone in two minutes."
We sat in comfortable silence, both with easy smiles on our faces as we stared out at the dark ocean. It was calm, but starting to get chilly. Once all the food was gone, Colt gathered up the rubbish and helped me up. I took his outstretched hand. "What a gentleman."
"I am, aren't I?" Our arms swung in between us as we made our way along the beach, leaving the other people by the picnic tables behind us. When we reached the empty rock pools at the far end of the long beach, we stopped, turning to face each other. Colt beamed down at me. "I had a lot of fun tonight."
I nodded in agreement, shivering slightly in the wind. "Yeah, me too." Colt let go of my hands, removing his jacket. I immediately shook my head. "This is not a rom-com, Colt." He tilted his head, one arm out of the sleeve, his jacket hanging off the other. "I'm fine."
"Sure you are." Colt slipped the jacket off completely and placed it on my shoulders. I didn't protest. It would've been futile. Once Colt made up his mind, it was virtually impossible to change it. "Better?"
I shrugged, drawing the garment tighter over me. It was very warm and it smelled just like Colt. He watched me expectantly, but I didn't budge. "Yeah, I guess."
Colt chuckled. "Good." He took a step closer, wrapping his arms around my torso underneath the jacket and drawing me in. I leaned my cheek against his chest, hearing his heartbeat over the crashing waves. He rested his chin on top of my head and I felt him sigh in contentment. We sat in silence for a few minutes, before I spoke up.
"Colt?" He hummed in acknowledgement, letting me know he was listening. I took a deep breath, summoning the courage to say my next words. "I really, really like you, Colt."
Colt chuckled slightly and pulled away. I wasn't sure whether to be worried or reassured. He looked down at me and I nervously met his gaze. His grin was incredible, reaching all the way to his eyes and creating little wrinkles underneath them.
Colt never looked at me the way he looks at you.
My face lit up at his expression and he slowly leaned forward, joining our lips together in a soft kiss. His hand went to the nape of my neck and I reached up to grip the collar of his shirt. The kiss was brief, but my lips tingled with electricity as we pulled apart. Colt leaned his forehead gently against mine.
"I thought this wasn't a rom-com?"
I rolled my eyes, but smiled nonetheless. "Way to ruin the moment." Colt was definitely a joker, but he knew when to be serious; like right now. He gripped the back of my neck tighter, his eyes boring deep into mine. I couldn't look away.
"I really, really like you too, Skye." I chuckled breathlessly. "Really."
***
I went to Sydney and tried to recreate the opera house shot from the film. It is at the top of the chapter. Let me know what you guys think.
So, that is the end of this story! Thank you all for the support, reads, votes and comments. It means the world to me that people like this book, so thank you. This book (at the time of me completing it) has 6.3k reads which is insane.
I love you all so much, and like I said, if there is a sequel film, I'll make a sequel book or add to this book. But for now, goodbye until I start another book!
If you liked Tom Ryder in The Fall Guy and/or Aaron Taylor-Johnson in general, I had a Tangerine fan fiction, which was based on the Bullet Train film, which also happens to be directed by David Leich, the director of The Fall Guy.
Wow, that was a mouthful! Anyways, check out that book if you're interested.
Thank you all for reading this book!
