*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Jane POV
But how did you know about my date?"

Now my cheeks turned all red. I just stared
at him frozen...

She didn't move a bit. Then she finally opened her mouth and said:

„I just heard it somewhere"

Actually, of course, I knew that she had listened to the phone call, but I let her believe that she had deceived me.

Two days later...

In the meantime, I have thought about something. Well, actually about someone. For some reason, she doesn't get out of my mind again. So I sat on my usual couch in the CBI office, my legs casually crossed over each other, and watched Teresa Lisbon. She was immersed in a stack of files, her forehead frowned and her lips slightly compressed, as she always did when she concentrated. A small smile played around my lips.

I got up and strolled to her desk, my typical charm in my luggage.

„Hey Lisbon, do you have anything to do tomorrow evening?" I asked casually as if I was asking her about the weather.

She looked up from her papers, her eyebrows raised slightly. "Why? Do you have a case that I should work on?"

I laughed softly and shook my head.

„No, nothing professional. I just thought it would be nice to do something different. How about a dinner? Just the two of us."

Lisbon looked at him suspiciously.

„A dinner? You and me?"

„Exactly," I confirmed, my blue eyes sparkling. „There is a new restaurant in the city. I thought we could try it."

She leaned back and crossed her arms in front of her chest.

„And why should I believe that this is not some crazy idea of you to get information or outwit someone?"

I stepped one step closer and bent forward slightly.

„Because I appreciate you as a person, Teresa. And I would like to spend more time with you without it being about murder and manslaughter. Just you and me, good food, and maybe a little wine. What do you say?"

Lisbon held up to my gaze, searched for a sign of deception in my eyes, but found only sincerity. Finally, she sighed softly and a small smile appeared on her face.

„All right, Jane. A dinner. But if you're up to anything, I'll find out."

I grinned broadly.

„I take that as a yes. I promise it will be a nice evening. I'll pick you up tomorrow at eight."

While I turned around and walked towards the exit, Lisbon called after me.

„And Jane, no tricks!"

I turned around, winked at her, and left the office. Teresa Lisbon smiled inside herself. Maybe this evening would be interesting after all.

The next day, 7:56 pm...

Jane and Lisbon POV
The next evening, Patrick Jane stood in front of Teresa Lisbon's front door on time at eight. He had dressed up, wore a dark blue suit, and held a small but carefully put together bouquet in his hand. He knocked on the door and waited while he took another deep breath.

Lisbon opened the door and looked at him with a smile.

„Flowers, Jane? Really?"

He smiled back and handed her the bouquet.

„Sometimes it's worth using the classic gestures. Are you ready?"

She took the flowers and nodded.

„Just let me find a vase quickly, then we can go."

A few minutes later they were sitting in the car, Jane drove and Lisbon looked at him from the corner of her eyes.

„You really don't have any hidden plans for tonight, do you?"

„No hidden plans," he confirmed. „Just a nice evening, I promise."

The restaurant was cozy and elegant, with candlelight and quiet music in the background. They were led to a table in a corner where they had a little more privacy. Jane ordered a bottle of wine, and they toasted to a relaxed evening.

The conversation was fluid and easy. They laughed at old cases, and Jane told her about his travels before his time at the CBI. Lisbon told him stories from her childhood and about her brothers. It was the first time in a long time that they talked outside of work and really enjoyed it.

When the dessert was served, Lisbon leaned back and looked at Jane.

„That was a really nice evening. Thank you, Jane."

„I'm glad you liked it," he replied gently. „Sometimes you just need a break from all the chaos."

After eating, they strolled through the busy streets, enjoying the cool night air and the lively hustle and bustle around them. Jane held her hand as they crossed a busy street and didn't let go of it immediately. He told her one anecdote after another, each with his typical wit and charm.

Finally, they stood in front of Lisbon's front door. She turned to him, a smile on her lips.

„Thank you for the evening, Jane. It was really nice."

„I'm glad to hear that," he said and looked deep into her eyes. "Maybe we should do this more often."

Lisbon hesitated briefly, then she nodded.

„Yes, maybe we should."

Jane smiled, stepped one step closer, and gently put a hand on her cheek.

„You know, Teresa, I've wanted to tell you something for a long time."

She looked at him, her heart was beating faster.

„What?"

„I appreciate you more than I've ever admitted," he said quietly. „And I think I'm in love with you."

Lisbon was speechless for a moment. Then she put her hand on his and smiled.

„I think I'm in love with you too"

Jane bent over and kissed her gently on the lips. It was a kiss full of tenderness and promise, a kiss that expressed all the unspoken feelings that they both had hidden for so long.

When they broke up, Lisbon leaned against him and whispered:

„Maybe we should really have dates more often."

„Definitely," Jane agreed as he took her in his arms. „Definitely."

So they stood there, in the cool night, the world around them seemed to stand still for a moment. It was the beginning of something new and beautiful, and both knew that together they had a future that was brighter than anything they had imagined so far.

Lisbon POV
When I woke up the next morning, I could hardly remember the rest of the evening. When I remembered the date, I realized that it probably went well, because Jane, who was still asleep, was holding me firmly in his arms.
