The sun shines brightly over the seawing kingdom. as an unusually large egg was on the verge of hatching.

The shell of the egg was as blue as the clear ocean, with a pattern that looked like moss over its surface.

When it hatched, it revealed a healthy ocean blue dragonet, slightly bigger than an average newly hatched seawing dragonet.

Seawasp a high-ranking elite bodyguard of Queen Coral. was more joyous then she had ever been in her entire life. seeing her own dragonet for the first time,

Equally so was stormtide. He could barely believe he actually had a daughter now. Stormtide was Seawasp's mate and one of the best sentries.

When Queen Coral arrived The couple allowed their queen to view the dragonet.

The first thing that caught Queen Coral's eye was her color. The dragonet was as blue as the ocean but also with traces of mossy green in certain parts of her tiny body.

The queen asked the couple for a name for her; Seawasp and Stormtide had already decided days before the hatching. She would be called Loreley. The queen approved of the name, leaving the family to enjoy themselves with their newly hatched dragonet.

During the evening, Seawasp noticed her daughter had been born under the violet moon, an extremely rare sight that only ever happened every 50 years At a moment when the moons were a bright violet color, it was unexplainable how this event worked.

Something else Loreley's father, Stormtide, noticed was a pattern of bioluminescence scales at the very edge of Loreley's tiny wings.

It wasn't the same as Queen Coral, but it was eerily similar. Seawasp proceeded to enjoy the week off the Queen had given her to spend with her mate and dragonet.

Seawasp fish up a clam for Loreley. giving it to her to see if she could open it herself. To Seawasp's surprise, Loreley did crack it open after a bit of a struggle with the shell.

She proceeded to eat the soft insides of the clam, enjoying her first meal. Seawasp was wondering if Loreley would turn out to be an animus dragon.

In her family tree, there had only ever been one animus dragon, Cascade. Cascade was her ancient ancestor. Cascade was soft-spoken, and he was a good thinker too, according to Queen Coral.

In her history scrolls Queen Coral had described Cascade as a cleaver trap layer and a fantastic swimmer; however, Cascade was also blind. Cascade didn't serve Queen Coral; he lived during Queen Pearl's time.

As he was blind, Cascade was usually seen with another seawing. His supposedly mate Spikecurrent was the palace's best swimmer at the time and a supreme fighter.

She saw Cascade bumping into walls, hurting his snout. and felt bad for the blind seawing and helped him from that day forward.

Eventually, love bloomed between the two seawings. However, no one knew what became of cascade and spikecurrent. They had possibly died by cascade going mad with animus madness.

Seawasp wasn't sure what to make of the legend. But taking care of Loreley was her number one priority now, the daughter she had always wanted.

The next few days, Seawasp introduced Loreley to other seawing dragonets, as she was forging friendships with them.

Loreley made 3 friends who lived in the summer palace, getting lessons in aquatic from her mother's teacher, and Seawasp tested Loreley on how well she knew their underwater language.

After a couple of weeks, Loreley had learned it. While Seawasp and Stormtide were doing their duties, Loreley played with her friends. Cobalt, a seawing dragonet who had ties to seawing nobility on his mother's side,

Cobalt was overall pretty nice, but he was slacking in his aquatic lessons, so Loreley couldn't always play with him.

Emperor was Loreley's second friend, and he thought incredibly highly of himself. Loreley had met him during fighting training; he was strong for his age. Loreley had asked about his family, and he told her his mother was an icewing royalty, making Emperor a icewing seawing hybird.

And last there was Pandora, the only female Seawing Loreley had been able to befriend. She was part of Loreley's history classes and helped her read Queen Coral's story scrolls at the start.

Loreley liked all three of her friends. Emperor was strong and unmovable in battle; Cobalt was kind and funny but also a slacker, yet he was a Nobel Seawing too; and Pandora, the dragonet who helped Loreley a lot, even paying attention to Loreley pattern at her wing edges.

Loreley played the whole day until her mother and father were free from their duties. At night, Loreley was put to sleep with the story of the mythical river queen, a seawing animus with powers beyond the imagination of seawings.
