"Really?" She asks looking up from her plate.
"Don't eat too fast where you'll get sick." I tell her.
"I won't." She promises.
The rest of our meal was ate in silence as we finished our breakfast. We worked together clearing the table and putting dishes in the sink. I love how we can work together cleaning up the kitchen. When that was done we all headed for Jackson's truck to head over to his mom's house.
************
"What took y'all so long?" I heard Nate call out as soon as Jackson opened the front door to Momma Lisa's house.
"We got here as soon as we could. What's going on?" Jackson asks as the girls ran around us to find Emma and Sofia.
"Someone cut the fencing down in different spots all over the property. Grayson, Aidan, Ryan, and the hands are out there now. We need your help with the rest." Lucas says once the children left the room.
"Someone did this on purpose and I think I know who did it." Jackson replies looking down and giving me a sad smile. I had a feeling that he was going to cause trouble. I brought this mess to their door step. Glancing around the room at the family that could one day be mine.
"I'm sorry." I say before Jackson could tell them who he thinks did it. "It's all my fault if I stayed away this wouldn't have happened."
"Don't say that, it's not your fault. We all have been where you are, Amelia. We are family and we keep each other safe. You belong here with us." Maddie says walking over to me and wrapping me up into a hug.
"She's right. You have always been apart of this family and this will not change how we feel about you." Lisa adds.
"We better go and get the fencing done. I don't want to be out there all night." Nate says heading for the door.
"If you need me call or text and I will make it back here as fast as I can." Jackson says placing a gentle kiss against my lips.
"I will. I love you."
"I love you too, baby. Don't ever forget that."
"I won't." I say before he turns around to follow his brothers out the door.
"We were thinking of taking the kids over to Bridget's. Do you want to go with us?" Charley asks as she sat down on one end of the couch.
"If you don't mind I would like to talk to you, Amelia." Lisa says as she takes the seat beside Charley.
"I would like that." I reply.
"Do you care if I take the girls with us?" Maddie asks and I appreciate that she is offering us time to talk alone.
"I bet they would love that." I tell her while I took the seat beside Lisa.
"I'll gather up the children and we will be out of y'all's hair. Come on Charley." Maddie says.
"Alright, help me up. I'm farther along than you are." Charley groans as she pushes herself up with Maddie's help. We sat there and watched as the children ran out the front door with Maddie and Charley following behind.
"I'm so glad that you came back." Lisa started and I am thankful because I did not know where to start this conversation.
"I'm sorry it took so long."
"Nonsense, you both found each other in the end and that's all that matters. I know it couldn't have been easy for you. I could see how much you two loved each other all those years ago. I got these out when I first thought you were really Ellie." She says handing me a stack of pictures.
