I swallow hard, my throat dry. "I don't even know what my abilities are, and I'm the child of two gods... doesn't that make me a god or something too?"
"You are only just starting to understand," Poseidon says. "Your ability to shift fully clothed is merely the surface. There is much more within you. You must learn to control them and you must learn to use them to their full potential. You'll need all the help to get to deal with what's coming. As for being a god? You are the child of two gods... yes, but you were born of a mortal which technically does not make you a god."
He gestures toward the sink where the water is still running. "Focus on the water, Inez. Feel its connection to you. Let it guide you."
I hesitate, not quite sure of what he's asking. But something in his voice—something in the way he watches me—compels me to listen. I try to reach out. I feel the coolness of the water, hear the gentle rush of it as it swirls in the sink.
And then, suddenly, I feel a pull, a connection deep within me that I never knew existed. The water responds to me. Slowly, tentatively, it rises from the sink, hovering in the air like a liquid ribbon.
I gasp, my eyes widening in shock as the water twists and flows in mid-air, following the motions of my hands. It feels... natural
Poseidon watches me, a hint of pride in his eyes. "You see? You have the power to command it. With time and practice, you will be able to use it to protect yourself and those you love."
I stare at the water, still suspended in the air, awe and disbelief warring within me. "This... this is insane."
"It is your destiny," Poseidon says softly. "You were born to play a part in this war, Inez. And I have no doubt you will rise to the challenge. But know this: you are not alone. You have your mates, your pack, and you have me and your mother. We cannot afford to lose this war."
The gravity of his words hits me like a punch to the gut. I lower my hands, and the water falls back into the sink with a soft splash. "So? What do I do now?"
"Prepare yourself," Poseidon replies. "Train your mind, your body, and your spirit. The war is coming, and you must be ready. The rest of your powers will reveal themselves to you, but you may want to do some research into the other Olympians powers... you may find some answers there."
With that, he takes a step back, his form beginning to shimmer and fade like mist over the ocean. "I will be watching, Inez. We all will. You have more strength within you than you realise."
And just like that, he's gone, leaving me standing alone in the bathroom, my heart racing and my mind spinning.
Later that afternoon, I head over to the training grounds where Lindsay is waiting for me. She's sitting on a bench, her long blonde hair tied up in a messy bun, her bright blue eyes sparkling with mischief as usual.
"Took you long enough," she teases as I approach.
"Sorry," I say, offering her a small smile. "It's been a weird morning."
Lindsay raises an eyebrow. "Weird how? Weird like 'I tripped over my own feet' weird, or weird like 'the moon goddess just dropped by for a chat' weird?"
I snort. "Definitely the latter."
Lindsay laughs, but then her expression softens. "You okay, though? I mean, really?"
I shrug, sitting down next to her. "I don't know. My dad showed up, and he told me there's a war coming and that I have this whole new power I didn't even know about. It's... a lot."
Lindsay reaches over, squeezing my hand. "Hey, you're Inez. You've got this. And besides, you've got me, and your three ridiculously hot Alpha Kings. We'll figure this out together."
A soft, possessive growl escapes from my lips, but I smile, grateful for her presence. "Thanks, Linds. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"You'd probably be a mess," she says with a wink, before standing up and stretching. "Come on, let's go for a run. It'll help clear your head."
We spend the next hour running through the woods, our wolves enjoying the freedom and the connection to nature. It's exactly what I need—a break from the weight of everything else. By the time we return to the house, I feel more centred... more grounded. I've loved always loved being around nature. It's always calmed me.
Dinner that evening is... quiet. Theo, Henry, and Oliver are all here, sitting around the large dining table. The air is thick with anticipation, but none of us say anything at first. Finally, Theo clears his throat. I can feel his nervousness through the bond... now come to think of it, I can feel the unease rolling off all three of them.
"We've been talking," he says, glancing between Henry and Oliver. "And we think it's time for you to be formally presented to the pack, Inez."
I blink in surprise. "Presented?"
Henry nods. "As our mate, and as the future Luna of our pack."
I feel a flutter of nerves in my stomach. Being presented to the pack is a big deal. It's not just a formality. It's a declaration of my place among them, of my role in the coming war. But I know it's the right thing to do.
I take a small breath to calm my nerves, but nod. "I agree," I say after a moment. "It's time."
Theo smiles softly, reaching across the table to take my hand. "We'll stand by your side, every step of the way. We're in this together."
I glance between the three of them and I feel a sense of resolve settle over me. The war is coming, and there's so much at stake, but we're ready. Together, we're strong. And together, we won't lose.
The Pack need to know who I am. I've been here for a couple of weeks now, and in usual circumstances, the Luna would be introduced to the pack almost immediately. I know it's time. The Pack need it. They need stability in their leadership.
