"Good morning." A stranger's voice greeted him.
Ye Zexi's smile froze instantly.
"What's got you smiling like that?" the man asked.
Ye Zexi looked up and realized that at some point, He Jinyun had appeared in front of him.
"Good morning?" he thought bitterly. More like 'good grief.'
Ye Zexi inwardly rolled his eyes and wiped the smile off his face.
He'd already seen He Jinyun last night during the performance and had been somewhat in awe.
No wonder He Jinyun was the main protagonist of the novel. With his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and a tall, lean figure dressed in a custom-fitted black suit, he was the epitome of handsome.
Under the warm indoor lighting, He Jinyun's strong nose and lips formed a gentle smile, his sharp eyebrows and handsome features commanding attention. Despite his imposing looks, there was something inexplicably approachable about him.
And those deep, dark eyes—one could easily get lost in them if they weren't careful.
It was a face that could certainly make omegas swoon.
But, unfortunately, Ye Zexi saw He Jinyun as being of the same "type" as him. So instead of being attracted by that stunning face, he felt mildly irritated by how close it was, as if his personal space had been invaded.
Ye Zexi discreetly stepped back half a pace before putting on a polite smile again. "Good morning, Director He. I wasn't smiling at anything in particular."
The title seemed to catch He Jinyun off guard. His brows lifted slightly, though his smile remained. "It's the first time I've heard you call me that."
Ye Zexi maintained his professional smile. "Is there something you need, Director He?"
He Jinyun nodded. "Yes." He paused for a moment, ensuring no one else was around before continuing. "I'm currently preparing a new film, and the shooting is scheduled to start right after this show ends. Are you interested in taking on a role?"
Ye Zexi was inwardly surprised—he hadn't expected He Jinyun to approach him about this.
His expression didn't change, and he quickly responded, "Sorry, I don't think I have any talent for acting."
He Jinyun seemed to anticipate Ye Zexi's rejection and calmly replied, "That's alright. We'll have professional instructors to guide you. Do you have other plans after the show? I heard you haven't signed with an agency yet, and you don't seem to have any clear career plans, do you? Don't you want to make a name for yourself in the entertainment industry?
Ye Zexi's smile finally gained a hint of sincerity as he met He Jinyun's somewhat expectant gaze and slowly shook his head. "I don't want to."
He Jinyun was momentarily at a loss for words, then let out a helpless laugh after a pause. "So, you joined Times Idol without any dreams?"
Ye Zexi opened his mouth to respond.
Before he could say anything, He Jinyun interrupted him, "Aside from chasing after Tang Jing."
Ye Zexi swallowed the words that had been on the tip of his tongue. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Then, I guess all that's left is going home to inherit the family business."
He Jinyun looked at Ye Zexi with a puzzled expression.
Ye Zexi's eyes were filled with sincerity. If his bank account hadn't been frozen, he'd have long gone back to being a carefree second-generation rich kid!
