It’s almost 3:30 in the morning, and I’m still immersed in Shubh’s case study. Anoushka had told me earlier that the boy would be admitted to the hospital in a few days, allowing us to give him the care he needs before his surgery.

After a detailed analysis, I finally put his files aside on the table, feeling the weight of the day lift slightly. I open my computer, hoping to unwind and clear my mind for a bit, searching for a distraction to ease the tension of the long hours spent poring over his case. The soft glow of the screen offers a brief respite, a moment to step back from the seriousness of my work and recharge before the challenges ahead.

Among so many websites, I opened my Facebook account. After scrolling through my news feed for a while, my eye caught on a sponsored post - again Malhan Enterprise.

Next to the post of CEO Mr. Malhan, the picture stands out as quite stylized. I never imagined that someone so calm and serious could participate in a photoshoot for his company.

There I went to the tag option and found his Facebook account, especially I don't stalk anyone's account, but it doesn't hurt to open it once out of curiosity I think.

I checked his Facebook account but I didn't find anything, but one thing I found was his Instagram account link. Little by little I may have been watching the whole tie, but who's going to see what I'm doing?

By clicking on the Instagram link, his Instagram account opened on the monitor in front of me. Which may have been very different from his 'PROFESSIONAL' Facebook account.

After spending some time scrolling through his Instagram, I began to realize he wasn't as serious as I had initially thought. The image I had of him—reserved and almost aloof—started to shift as I delved deeper into his posts. Each picture seemed carefully curated, yet the captions revealed a playful side, a hidden sense of humor that I hadn’t expected. He didn’t take himself as seriously as I had imagined, and it surprised me how much his personality seemed to open up with each post.

As I read through more captions, I couldn't help but smile at his witty remarks and subtle self-deprecating humor. It was like discovering a new layer to him, one that showed he wasn’t afraid to laugh at himself or embrace his quirks. Each caption added a bit of charm, breaking down the image of the serious person I’d assumed he was. Suddenly, he felt more relatable, more approachable—a version of him I never would’ve guessed from a distance.

Amidst the chaos, a familiar voice suddenly broke through the silence, calling out, "Aap soyi nahi abhi tak?!"

I turned toward the door and saw my younger sister, Amaira, standing there, her sleepiness evident as she struggled to open her eyes fully.

With a sense of urgency, she hurried to the washroom, her feet shuffling across the floor as she attempted to shake off the remnants of sleep. Her tousled hair framed her face, and the sight of her reminded me of the carefree moments we shared. Even in her half-asleep state, her presence brought a smile to my face.

A few moments later, the washroom door creaked open, and Amaira emerged, her eyes finally wide awake and filled with a hint of mischief. She wiped her hands on a towel and tossed her damp hair over her shoulder, a playful grin spreading across her face.

"Aaj kya sone ka irada nahi hai?!"  she teased, her voice a mix of sleepiness and energy.

I couldn't help but laugh at her. "Kya karu yaar... I have to do it , it's my job.."

She rolled her eyes dramatically, fully embracing her role as the younger sister who always had to remind me to lighten up. "Chalo, breakfast karte hain. Waise bhi subeh ho gayi hai.."

With that, she bounced into the kitchen, her enthusiasm contagious, instantly brightening the atmosphere and pushing away any lingering worries.

Although Amaira was not my biological sister, we lived in the same orphanage, and as she grew up, I moved in with her, becoming her guardian at the age of 24.

But now the most challenging and interesting task so far is making a proper breakfast for two people at 4:30 am when I haven't slept all night.

"Teri Maggie sookhi banau ya soup wali?!" I asked her to confirm for the last time how she wanted to have her Maggie.

She looked up from her phone, a teasing smile on her lips. "Soup wali Maggie, obviously! Aaj thoda healthy hona hai," she replied, raising an eyebrow playfully.

I raised an eyebrow, my lips curling into a smirk as my face scrunched in confusion. "Maggie? Aur healthy? It was a joke, right?"

Her laughter bubbled over, and she shrugged nonchalantly. "Yaar Di!!.. As you’re a doctor, make it healthy! Aap ki responsibility hai!"

I rolled his eyes dramatically, trying to suppress a grin. "Fine, fine. But if I mess it up, mujhe blame mat karna..!"

She chuckled, leaning back as if the thought amused her. "Trust me, if it’s bad, I’ll just add extra masala and call it gourmet!"

I shook my head, chuckling at her playful banter as I set to work in the kitchen. I grabbed a pot, filled it with water, and put it on the stove, turning the heat up high. The soothing sound of bubbling water filled the space, creating a comforting background to our late-night breakfast adventure.

As I reached for the packet of Maggie, Amaira leaned against the kitchen counter, scrolling through her phone. "So, apko Mr. Malhan ke baare mei aur kuch pata chala?" she asked, her tone light and teasing.

I paused for a moment, considering how to answer. "He's surprisingly... funny" I admitted, not wanting to go into too much detail. "His Instagram is full of witty captions. Matlab I can't believe he's just like a coconut, hard from outside but soft from inside.."

Amaira raised her eyebrows, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. "Aha! A softer side of Mr. Serious huh? And you were stalking him at 4,... AAPKO UNPE CRUSH TO NAHI ??!!"

I rolled my eyes, trying to maintain my composure. "Don’t be ridiculous. It's just... It's just interesting.. mat pooochna kyu!!."

She crossed her arms, leaning in slightly. "Sure, Di. Just remember Doctors ko bhi break chahiye hota hai... Life is too short to be serious all the time."

As I poured the Maggie noodles into the boiling water, I couldn't help but smile at Amaira's words. They echoed in my mind, a gentle reminder that even in my demanding job, I had to carve out moments of joy.

After a few minutes of stirring and chatting about our favorite TV shows, I served up two bowls of steaming soupy Maggie. The aroma filled the kitchen, and despite my earlier concerns, it looked pretty good.

Amaira took her bowl, blowing on the noodles before taking a careful bite. Her eyes lit up with surprise. "Wow, Di! Aap amazing ho " she exclaimed, her mouth full.

" Ah.. ab jyada buttering na kar, it’s just Maggie," I said, trying to play it cool but feeling a sense of pride swelling in my chest.

"No, seriously! It’s like aapko doctor ke sath sath chef bhi ban jaana chahiye.. you should surely open a restaurant or something.." she joked, leaning back against the counter with a satisfied grin.

I laughed, shaking my head. "Nahi bhai.. mai doctor theek hu.."

As we sat down at the small dining table, the warmth of the food and the playful atmosphere made the early hour feel more like a cozy gathering than a chore. We chatted about everything—from school memories to future dreams—until our laughter filled the room, echoing off the walls.

After finishing our meal, I glanced at the clock and realized it was almost 5:30 AM. I needed to wrap up my work and get some rest before heading to the hospital later that day.

Amaira stood up, collecting the empty bowls. "Di aap Thora so jaao.. apko fir hospital bhi jaana hai.." she said, her tone shifting to a more serious note.

I nodded, feeling a rush of gratitude for her support. "Thanks, Amaira."

She flashed a bright smile, her eyes sparkling. "Of course! Main hamesha aapke sath hun.. ab aap jakar so jaaiye, I will clean up this mess"

I chuckled, shaking my head at her stubbornness. "Are Mai bhi help kar deti hu.."

As we cleaned up together, I felt a surge of warmth and happiness. I realized how important our bond was, built on shared experiences and unconditional support.

Once the kitchen was tidied up, I hugged Amaira tightly. "Thank you for being you" I whispered.

She squeezed me back, her voice muffled. "And thank you for being the best sister ever. !"

With a final smile exchanged, I made my way to my room, the echoes of laughter still resonating in my ears. I plopped onto my bed, pulling the blanket over me, my mind drifting back to the case study I had been working on earlier.

Yet, despite the challenges ahead, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. For a moment, I let myself bask in the joy of these little moments—the laughter, the warmth, the sense of belonging. And as sleep began to take over, I found myself smiling, thinking of Mr. Malhan’s unexpected humor and the new layers I had discovered in him.

Maybe life wasn’t just about the work and responsibilities; perhaps it was also about finding joy in the simplest things, like sharing a bowl of noodles at dawn with the ones you care about. And with that thought, I surrendered to sleep, ready to face whatever challenges the day might bring.
