Her Human Mate (A She-wolf story)

Chapter 6

In response, he just waved his hand and left. As if he remembered some important task to be done urgently. 

Dr. Nebula Turned to me and smiled politely. "Hi I'm Dr. Caroline Nebula. You can call me Caroline" 

"Hi" I manged to reply and tried to stretch my lips a bit. 

"I know its difficult to accept a mate's refusal. I just want you to know that I'm here if you need any help" she was being too nice. " I got to know that, err...  you don't have many friends at school or in the pack. I figured you could use a friend in these tough times" 

From her heartbeats I could figure out that she was nervous as hell. 

This all was weird for me. In last 24 hours, I had found my mate, My mate had rejected me, my own father was happy about it and a stranger in my room wanted to help me. 

"Why? Why do you wanna help help me" I croaked. 

"Well, truth to be told, I was rejected by my mate too, for being the nerd that I was" She pursed he lips but continued " and not having any friends was one of the perks of being a nerd" She looked lost in some old memory but quickly her frown turned into smile when she added " Although, my mate realized his mistake and came back begging at my door. So all in all everything was well in the end" Her smile widened while showing me her wedding ring. 

I took a moment and looked at her carefully. She looked like in her late twenties. She was petite and had a heart shaped face. Her golden-blond hair were pulled into a lose bun. She was wearing a long knee length blue chiffon dress under her lab coat. She looked pretty, even when there was absence of any make-up on her face. Her blue eyes were guarded by thick rimmed glasses which made her look somewhat serious and a no-bullshit-woman. 

It was hard to imagine that she was rejected. She was very pretty. In fact she was beautiful. Her best features were her re-assuring smile and kind eyes that would sooth you immediately. But if her mate accepted her again then so could mine. could it really be possible? Could I really get my happily-ever-after with my mate? Debating my chances with my mate, I decided I could at least ask her how she won her mate back. 

 "Dr. Nebula, I mean Caroline. Could you tell me how you did that?" I voiced my hope.  

Caroline laughed and said "Sure, but first tell me what exactly happened. I want to know everything. It would help us find out a solution" she started moving towards my cupboard. "But before that you might consider having a bath. Warm water is best for calming your nerves" She giggled and it made me smile too.

Caroline made me soak in bath tub and got me my favorite chocolate milk drink. She had put on some light music too and had let me take my own time gathering my thoughts. She gave me some medicine for my headache. 

When I got ready she had already made scrambled eggs and some coffee for breakfast. 

"If you are ready then lets hear it now" she said setting the breakfast in front of me. My stomach rumbled at the smell and we both laughed. I was happy to find a new friend. A friend after a long time.

I rallied everything to Caroline. From the taunting scent since morning till my mate's flat out rejection. 

"I don't think he rejected you dear. You are just over-reacting" she said after a long pause. 

"What? I'm over-reacting? I ? How's that possible?" I defended. 

"See what I mean?" She raised an eyebrow in my direction and continued " Lets look at the facts here. first, your mate is human. so obviously, he doesn't understand the mate thing" I tried to interrupt but she shut me up by raising her hand. "Second, although being a human he would have felt the bond, but as you said that he could be player, he would be good at masking his feeling" I opened my mouth and closed again as I had nothing to say to this so I let her continue. "and lastly, he said he doesn't do freaks and left. However, this can not be counted as rejection. So yes, you are over-reacting" 

It all made sense. At least in my mind.  So technically he hand't really rejected me yet. 

"Oh Thank God. You are the best. 

So how do I get my mate back now? "
