AELIUS POV

when we got on the plane aurora stole the window seat and slapped some SHUT UP stickers on the stolls mouths which took them five minutes to get off and took me ten minutes to stop laughing about.

now she's asleep with her head on my shoulder and we're sharing earbuds, listening to her playlist because she won rock-paper-sissors.

the beat was good but the lyrics were questionable.

she said they have a hidden metaphorical meaning if you think about, which is why she likes it.

but i've been listening to her music for thirty minutes and i still have no idea what any of this means.

see? i have no idea what any of that means.

i stared out of the window.

aurora had told me not to worry too much about the prophecy but i was worried all about the prophecy.

it kept replaying in my mind.

the twins shall go where the earth meets her end
and along the way meet foe and friend
one may make a choice that will lead to his final stand
and one will be betrayed by a brothers hand
both shall go where the sun does'nt show
and reverse the unfair reap of a heroes soul

it doesnt make sense.

aurora thinks the end of the earth means what the ancient greeks beleived was the end of the earth; maybe a canyon they could'nt cross.

so now we're going to austraila to 'reverse the unfair reap of a heroes soul' but hades said that they would'nt be dead? how does that work? how can you get you're soul stolen and not be dead?

'and along the way meet foe and friend' well obviously they're's gonna be a foe. was hermes supposed to be the friend?

'one may make a choice that will lead to his final stand' i'm guessing that's me cus' i'm the only he-twin here.

but what choice? it did say 'may' so it's still avoidable right?

'one will be betrayed by a brothers hand' i don't know why i'm so worried about this, i would never betray my sister. then who is this talking about?

'both shall go where the sun does'nt show' i don't want to go where the sun does'nt show.

at least it did'nt mention full on manslaughter. i know aurora is right--i should'nt worry so much--that's how you mess up prophecy's, but i can't help it.

aurora had never been an optimist but she'd always put on a brave face for me.

when we were on the run the only thing we had to hold on to was eachother.

when we were stuck in the woods being hunted by monsters and it was pitch black and i could'nt see anything i held on to her hand and she kept me safe.

so the idea that i could be her downfall.... i can't stand it.

i yawned and rested my chin on my sisters head closing my eyes, slowly drifting off to sleep.

naturally, nightmares clung to me about as much as i clung to my sis.

i was in the room i shared with my sis back before we ran away.

i was a bystander watching my three year old self fumble around in the darkness trying to get to my sis.

little me shook her awake, she sat up and rubbed her eyes.

''i hear them again.'' little me whispered.

i watched my sis's eyes go from tired to terrified in a second.

''i'm scared. what if they get in?'' little me asked on the verge of tears.

aurora looked just as scared but she choked it down and took little me's hand.

''maybe they don't know we're here.''

even that young my sister had always been strong for me.

little me shook his head.''can we go get mommy?'' he whined.

''but remember what she told us last time?''
aurora whispered.

i remembered very well. she told us we were crazy and we needed to get over it because we were making her look bad.

''but what if it gets in?'' little me asked.

eventually aurora agreed.

they climbed up the stairs to our mothers room, stopping to make sure nothing was following them like a horror movie.

they pushed the door open with a little dificulty.

little me shook mom awake like he did with aurora.

she groaned annoyed.''what?'' she snapped.

''there's something outside.''little me said.

mom hissed ''there is not! go to sleep.''

little me started tearing up.''but we can hear it.''

mom huffed angrily and threw the covers off of her and started stomping down stairs with the three year old twins following behind her.

she shoved the door open to reveal a huge beast with pitch black fur and blood red eyes angrily pacing in the yard.

''see? nothing!'' she yelled. l

ittle me trembled and wrapped his arms tight around aurora's waist, she put a comforting arm around his shoulder in return but they were both still trembling.

mom stomped back up stairs and slamed the door shut.

''what do we do now?'' little me whispered.

aurora walked to the door and stood on her tippy-toes to lock it.

''we stay away from that thing.'' she said.

they both understood that thier mom couldn't see what they saw and she wasn't going to help them.
