Harin died a year later in her sleep. It was a heart attack, as it was confirmed and Chaeyoung didn't know where to go or what to do. Her parents urged her to stay in the small town with them but she had enough of the provincial life. Secretly, she packed her stuff and eloped to Seoul with her young daughter. There was a college intake, her lifelong dream which she partook in and graduated two years later.
She was a school teacher and all her life never stopped looking for Lisa. She knew she loved her the most when Lisa left and vowed to keep looking for her so that they could resume where they paused. But nobody seemed to have heard anything about Lisa. Not even the Imperial Army office in Tokyo when Chaeyoung phoned them.
It was a mystery she never got to solve. But something she never got tired of either.
"Your application has been approved," The admin told her when it was Chaeyoung's fifth visit to the Registry Office. "Your legal name has been changed to Manoban from Park. Please make a payment of 20, 000 won at counter number 6,"
