"WANNA GRAB COFFEE?" was the first thing Aaron Judge said when Giancarlo answered the phone.
Giancarlo raised an eyebrow, and if Aaron could've seen Giancarlo, he would've seen a look of confusion wash over his face, "Before I say yes, why?"
Two years had passed since his one-night stand, and while his memories of the night itself were fuzzy at best, the memories of Madeleine were clear. He'd had other one-night stands since then, but none had held a candle to her, and he could still remember the way she'd felt, her warm body pressed against his, her nails digging into his back, and the feeling of her silky skin beneath his fingertips.
He had a million regrets in life, but that night with her certainly wasn't one of them.
But that being said, he knew he would never see her again, so there was no point in dwelling on what-ifs.
Aaron rolled his eyes, "Wow, thanks, man. I can tell you really want to."
"You haven't answered my question."
"Sam's out with a girlfriend and I want some coffee," Aaron replied, "Besides, don't you miss me?"
Giancarlo thought of about 5 responses to that, 4 of which would probably end with Aaron hanging up the phone. Instead, he settled on, "Y'know what, sure. Where?"
"Starbucks?"
"What are you, 14?"
"What are you, 80?" Aaron shot back, and Giancarlo couldn't help but laugh.
"Fine, Starbucks," he relented, and Aaron let out a triumphant "whoop".
Aaron said he would meet him there in 10 minutes, and then he hung up, leaving Giancarlo alone.
He stared blankly at the living room wall, trying to get the courage to get up and leave. It was an off day, so after an early morning workout that he'd barely managed to drag himself to, he'd done absolutely nothing. He'd had the TV on in the background, an old episode of Criminal Minds playing, but it had faded into the background as he'd tried to fall asleep, only to be interrupted by his phone ringing.
But time spent with Aaron was almost always a good time, so he forced himself to get out of the recliner and grab his wallet and sweatshirt before leaving his penthouse.
The Starbucks he knew Aaron was talking about was a few blocks away, so he decided to walk, the crisp spring air nipping at his skin. It was March, so while it was usually warmer, the occasional cool breeze would make its way through the city.
It didn't take him long to get there, and as he was entering the store, his eyes landed on Aaron, who was already standing in line.
"Hey, man," Giancarlo greeted him, coming up behind him and patting him on the shoulder, "Been waiting long?"
