The chapters will be shorter so I can update faster.... Shorter doesn't mean it will be less appealing lolz... Anyways, I hope you enjoy this chapter!

The sound of rain droplets splattering across the glass pane woke me. I sat up on the bottom bunk of the bed Lani and I shared.

"Shit!" I cursed as my head bumped onto the board up top. I was alone in the room which I was thankful for. Atleast I could think more freely. I stood up and did a few stretches to release the tension from my limbs and muscles.

I hadn't slept well. The god damned bed was too small so my feet were hanging over. Every turn I made, I almost fell off. So pardon me if I was being grumpy.

I walked over to the window.

My mind was invaded by inundated thoughts as I watched the droplets streaming down the window pane, racing in their manic fashions.

We were in a large town called Arden, staying at Flora's, a fellow wielder's house. It was weird, being somewhere other than the academy but I had always wanted to leave the damn place. Just not like this.

I felt like a frigging fugitive, like I had done something wrong. If I had done something wrong I could atleast feel some kind of thrill, but I wasn't running of my own accord.

Running. I was running. Again, the idea imbued a feeling of...turmoil within me. I felt like I was being weak, defenseless even though I wasn't. I wanted to fight!

There you go with the 'I's, my subconscious rose her head, Not everything is about you.

Oh shut up.

A strange thought trickled inside my head.

Was I being selfish? Did I only want to fight because that's all I'd been doing my whole life and it would satisfy my ego or did I want to protect the Electi?

I frowned, unable to come up with an answer.

I wasn't selfish. I just didn't appreciate putting my life on the line for something,— someone who wouldn't even be beneficial to me. No one ever placed their lives on the line for me...ever. Why should I?

A series of laughter erupted from downstairs. I decided to wash up then join in.

The kitchen was dancing with different smells: chocolate, spices, cinnamon, fruits, you name it; and everyone was busy doing something. Except Aiden and Flora, they were nowhere in sight.

Cassia was slicing a delicious-looking chocolate cake and Lily was placing waffles in a toaster.

Lani was washing and placing fruits on a tray while Cade stole from it. She swatted his arm and laughed. I laughed too but she stopped when she saw me and frowned.

I rolled my eyes.

Fine, be that way.

"Kitten!" Cade strolled over to me and gave me his usual kiss on the forehead, "You're awake. Finally."

I caught Lily's violet gaze and her red aura. She was annoyed but covered it up with a smile.

Keep your panties on girl, I told you we're just friends.

"Sup?" I greeted, "Where's Aiden?"

He shrugged and grabbed a bunch of grapes from the tray, again.

"Cade!" Lani groaned but she was smiling.

"What?" Cade mumbled with his full mouth and held up his hands in defense.
