There was a lot of fuss in the back, before the flower girls walked down the aisle, scattering petals from their baskets as they did. Mya and I followed, holding Millie and Macy, helping them scatter their petals too. As I walked down, I felt Finn's eyes on me, and I looked up, shy at the fact he hadn't seen the dresses yet. He gave me a wink, before smirking, as I turned my gaze away. There were a lot of people I didn't recognise here, which was weird considering we were all close with one another's families- I guess once I talked to everyone the memories of who they were would come back. Mya and I turned off, standing at the side, as her sisters, the maids of honour, did the same. Everyone then rose, as Addie entered clinging to her mother's arm, and they walked down the aisle, as a children's choir sung soft harmonies.
Damien turned his head, his eyes locking on Addie, and Addie only. His eyes showed nothing but love, and they glazed over, as he watched her devotedly whilst she walked towards him. He tried stopping the growing smile on his face, but he couldn't. It crept up as he watched her, his eyes full of love and looking at her the way a girl could only ever dream to be looked at like. As she came to the alter, her mother took her hand, and placed it in Damien's. ''I'll look after her Ma'am,'' he smiled, kissing her cheek. Addie's smile was infectious, and everyone sat down as the Vicar started talking.
I saw my mother and Oakley sat in the midst of people, and smiled that they'd been able to come. Addie and my mother had always been quite close with each other, and seeing as my father couldn't make it, he'd stayed at home with the boys, whilst Oakley brought a friend along. Everyone watched the ceremony in complete awe, and occasionally I'd look up to see Finn's eye's on me, staring dotingly. ''Damien, if you would now say your vows.'' Damien, gulped, taking out a crumpled piece of paper from his jacket.
''Bad memory, sorry babe,'' he winked, earning him a few laughs. ''Addie, my wonderful, smart, beautiful Adeline. I remember on our first date I told you I didn't believe in soul mates, but that was only because I knew everything I'd ever believed in, was simple untrue. I knew from the moment I saw you, that you were the one for me. You know me better than anyone else, but for some reason you love me. I promise I will be whatever you want me to be, your friend, your lover, your protector, anything.
I'm so lucky to be able to spend my life with you, I get to laugh with you, cry with you, care for you, and share the incredible moments I know we'll have in the future together with you. I promise to be whatever you want me to as we go through this adventure together. In sickness and in health babe, I'll always be yours and you'll always have my undivided attention, unless there's a rugby game on, in that case I'm sorry,'' he joked, making us all chuckle. ''I love you Adeline, so, so much and I vow to be yours forever.''
Addie smiled, mouthing a 'thank you', to him as he winked back at her, putting the paper back in his pocket. ''And now, for yours Miss,'' the Vicar said, standing back for Addie to say her vows.
''It is one thing to talk, and another to promise, it is one thing to imagine, and one thing to feel, it is one thing to experience, and one thing to savour. This day is one thing, the rest of our lives is another. Damien, Damien, Damien,'' she grinned, shaking her head. ''You're an idiot aren't you?'' She laughed, ''But I don't half love you. When I met you, I instantly thought, it's him, it's him that I want to spend every single day with. I wanted to wake up next to you in the morning, I wanted to cook pancakes with you in the kitchen, throwing my head back in laughter, and I wanted you to be the one I could cry to. But, most importantly I wanted you to be the one that loved me, for me.
You don't know how much your love means to me, and I know my dad would have loved to have someone to yell at the television with as your favourite rugby team loses or whatever. I miss him so much and it hurts me so deeply he can't be here today, but he's here in our hearts isn't he? I know he would have loved to have you as his son-in-law, do you know why? Because you make me happy, you make me so happy Damien, and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life together with you in this crazy adventure which begun only a few years ago. I only promise one thing, and that is I will forever be yours, because it's an extraordinary thing to meet someone who fills such a large hole in your heart and I will forever be grateful of your love, and the joy you bring in my life.'' I wiped under my eyes, to stop the tears from falling, as the Vicar continued.
