Wake Me Up

In the clearing is where I stand. I'm standing there with bruises and cuts all over. My dress is all tattered and torn. I am looking at me. Or at least that is what appears to be in front of me. It still has that evil smile on its face. The forest is silent. Too silent.

I look me over and I notice that there is a dark cloud surrounding me. But that can't be me can it? I mean I am standing right here. Her head then twitches as her face gets all distorted. Her face then goes back into place and into that same eerie smile. She is wearing a dress just like mine but it’s completely black.

"Samantha" is says my name in a voice that I cannot recognize. It’s not a normal voice. Sounds more like an evil growl. My blood runs cold. Realizing I was still holding my breath. I let it out and noticed that she did the same. Still smiling after that. I then moved my hand and she moved like a mirror image. I moved my other hand above my head and she didn't miss a step. I lifted my right hand up and started to advance towards this 'mirror'. I had to make sure that is what it was.

The ground began to tremble as I got closer and her smile grew bigger. Hesitating, I took a step back. The smile left her face as she mimicked me. "Samantha" she said again. This time her voice resembled a normal voice but it still was not my own.

I move again having this strange urge to figure out what is going on. More curious to figure out if this was a mirror. Yet something inside me was screaming not to touch it. Screaming to turn and run towards the light. Getting closer to this being my hand was trembling. She mimics my every move. The smile appears on her face one more time. Looking right into her eyes that are different from mine. Mine are an emerald green with an auburn burnished color that surrounds the pupil and a black ring outlines the whole thing.

Her eyes were dark. Like a great white sharks eyes. Cold and dead. It drawled me closer. Her smile turned into a grin as she tauntingly said my name again. Our hands were inches from touching. Seconds from touching. Her grin turned into a big smile. All her teeth showing. Her teeth were just like mine.

I stop. Put my hand down. I watch as her hand slowly goes to her side like a delayed reaction and her smile left her face. I take a step down and her face twist and turns. "The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want...” the wind picks up and she takes a step back. “He maketh me lie down in green pastures" She growls at me and I close my eyes. "He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul." The trees begin to howl as the wind makes its wrath be known. "He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil." I say with venom. The light that was shining through the trees then began to get brighter. I opened my eyes. She put her arm over her eyes and a snarl came off her lips. "For thou art with me; thy rod and they staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies:" She growled really loud and I watched as she doubled over as if she was in pain.

"Samantha!" She yelled in a normal voice and it made me stop. But then she twitched again and I saw her real identity for a second. She still had my hair but her face changed. Her eyes were white and her face was decaying. Horns lined the side of her face. Scared I closed my eyes.

"Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over." She hissed. A demonic scream left her lips. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever!"(Psalms 23 KJV) I spoke louder almost screaming the last part.

A gust of air blew down in the clearing just like a helicopter does when it hovers. I opened my eyes one last time to see her reach for me. Screaming my name in an evil voice. Then I look up to see the sky flashing. Then I hear a beeping noise. BEEP BEEP BEEP... BEEP BEEP BEEP... "NOOO!!!" She screams as everything goes white. I close my eyes knowing fully well that I'm about to go far from this place. Or at least I am hoping so.

I open my eyes again to find myself looking up at a ceiling. A ceiling that is too familiar to me. I sit up in the bed that I was on. My bed. I cover my eyes. I look around the room. I hit the alarm clock to shut it off. "It was just a dream..." I scooted to the corner where my bed meets the wall hugging a pillow. "The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want..."
