Chapter 20: The Enemy of My Enemy

Volcana, in the next cell, noticed and screamed out to Hills. "Help her! He's about to rape her!"

"So clearly..." Brian Hills stopped speaking after hearing Volcana. He turned around and saw that what Claire Selton had said was true. "Blockbuster, stop him!"

Supergirl looked and was horrified by the sight. Doctor Light nearly ripped Zatanna's jumpsuit off but Blockbuster caught him and slammed him on the ground.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Light? You were about to rape her?" Hills angrily spat, punching the villain in the face.

"For what she did to me long ago! So yes!" Arthur Light looked back at Zatanna with a malicious grin. "I was promised whatever I wanted and I want her!"

Blockbuster grabbed Light by the shoulders to drag him out. "They saved you this time! But I'll come back when you least expect it!" The villain yelled, staring at her.

Zatanna continued crying as Volcana felt chills and Kara anger.

Back at the island, the heroes that stayed behind in the Batcave II had reached a final decision.

"As crazy as this sounds, maybe we should accept Luthor's offer to team up." Superman declared, making a decision.

The Leaguers were still doubtful of the thought of joining with Luthor. "Are you sure? I mean we're talking about Lex Luthor after all." Green Lantern pointed out, doubting the whole situation.

"Maybe, but we're without many options. I trust Clark's decision." Doctor Fate supported Superman.

The rest decided to agree, although the doubt will still be there. "I guess, what do we got to lose?" Flash said, speaking for everyone.

"Anyhow, when Luthor mentioned Kara and Zatanna, I did a quick search and turns out to be true." The Caped Crusader addressed his statement to Superman. "I hacked into S.T.A.R. Labs and found footage of Kara, Zatanna, and Volcana locked in cells."

"But that doesn't answer why Supergirl attacked me and Wally." Giganta intervened, wanting to have that doubt clarified.

Batman played a video on the computer which showed a woman very similar to Kara. "That wasn't Supergirl. It was a clone Gaines ordered to be made and named her Power Girl."

The reveal gave the heroes a shock, clearly not expecting this. Superman however was relieved, knowing his cousin didn't join Gaines' regime. "I'm glad she isn't Kara."

"No, but she's an exact copy only aged a little older. But their personality traits, interests, thoughts, perception are all the same." The Dark Knight informed.

Superman smiled and had Batman power off the computer. "With all cleared, I suggest we get some rest. Tomorrow we contact Luthor."

"Question is, can he be trusted?" Martian Manhunter put the question out there, worried about a double cross.

"Only one way to find out I guess." The Man of Steel and the rest dismissed from the Batcave II to head out to their rooms.

Superman reached the door to his room and saw Diana walking towards him. "Hi, Clark. How have you been?" Wonder Woman kindly asked him, smiling at him.
