“I forgot to grab a bag.” I said as I spun around looking for Rey, frantically. “Dammit.”

She laughed, “I’ll run up really fast and get one.”

        “Thanks.” I replied.

Rachael ran off and was back in seconds. I quickly picked up Dexter’s little mess and tossed it out before getting into the Impala. When Cody and I had left Illinois I told him my baby had to come with. He couldn’t stop laughing when I told him but he knew by my straight face that I wasn’t going to leave without her.

I started the car up and we were off to Barnes & Nobles. I knew that I could get a few of my books there for a cheaper price than on campus. So I was planning to go there first. When I pulled into the parking lot I remembered I had Dexter in the back. I sighed, of course Rachael knew exactly why.

“Go in, I’ll wait here with Dex.” she said.

        I smiled, “Thank you.”

I reached back behind me and rubbed my hand on Dexter’s tummy before getting out of the car. I walked over to the door and opened it. Once I was inside I walked over to the checkout counter where a woman waiting asked me what I needed. I told her I was looking for some books that I ordered a few days before, for pick up.

She started to type on the computer for a few seconds before finding my books. She called for someone to get it for her. I couldn’t help but think to myself, “Are you really that lazy you couldn’t get them yourself?” but I didn’t want to deal with the said lazy person at this very moment. I wanted my books and to get to the campus before the book store closed.

“Here you go ma’am.” A young man said, as he handed me my books. He looked to be at least 26 years old, “Latin?”

I smiled, “Didn’t want to bother with French, I failed in high school. German just didn’t seem as fun as Latin, so I decided to go with that.” I replied, “Also, I’m thinking I’m younger than you, so ma’am isn’t necessary.”

“Oh, right. Well if you ever come in and I see you again, I swear ma’am won’t be said again.” He replied with a smile, “I’ve heard Latin is pretty hard.”

I laughed, “I’m not going to lie. I’m only learning it because of the TV show Supernatural, I want to know what their saying.”

He started to laugh, “I’m sure everyone does.”

He handed me my books and I couldn’t help but smile. I turned back to the women at the checkout and she was glaring at me. I asked her if there was anything else I needed to do. I had already paid for the books, but I knew sometimes people made attempts at try to screw you over. She told me I was good to go, so I started to walk out of the store with my books in hand.

I pushed the door open with my butt as I backed out of the door with my four heavy books. I started to walk towards the impala, when I could hear music coming from it. I stopped to listen to see what Rachael was listening too when I figured out it was “Eye of the Tiger” happened to be on. As I got closer; I could see she was lying down in the front seat with Dexter on her chest.

I set my books down in the back without her noticing and banged on the top, “Hey.”

“Whoa.” she yelled out, “When did you get back.”
