It was hard to say those words. He looks down and gnaws at his thumbnail a bit more.

"I can't say I have. Why do you ask?"

You were about to give him the honest answer, telling him you wanted to leave here and go somewhere else....but some unknown force was stopping you.

"I um....n-nevermind. It's stupid."

You kicked at the ground below you and you avoided looking at him. He shuffled a little, and you sensed the change in his demeanour.

"(y/n)....is something wrong?"

He spoke in a heartfelt way that you've never heard before, which made you feel all the emotions under the sun. You didn't want to tell him what was wrong. But at the same time you did. You didn't know what to say, so you jar up your feelings and mumble an excuse to leave. You needed some time alone to think about how you felt, and to figure out what you needed to do about it.

Soon enough, it was time to go to bed, and you tossed and turned all night thinking about your little predicament. You knew that living here was grinding down on you every day, and there were a few options of what you could do. 1, you could sit here and wait for things to get better. You've been practicing this strategy for years, but it hasn't worked. So that's off the list. 2, you could try and fix things for yourself. Again, for years you've tried. You studied so hard every night to boost your grades, you tried making friends besides L...no strategies have prevailed yet. Option three was....get out of here on your own.....run away, to but it blatantly. You were old enough now you could organize taking all your schoolwork online, as long as you had a computer to do it with. However You weren't old enough for a job, nor to get your own place to live. It was your only problem. If it weren't for that, you would've been out the door now. You laid there completely still, contemplating who you would go to. Your best bet was to go to The nearest city...It was a densely populated area, that was far away from here. It was also fairly close to the town you were born in. if the orphanage started looking for you it would take them awhile to find you, especially if you were all the way over there. But getting to your destination was an issue. It would be a long and potentially expensive trip. You pondered over this for awhile. But then reality hit you. Were you REALLY thinking of this? This decision meant letting go of everyone, and everything here. You try to forget about it, But then you remembered. You were so tired of living here, you needed to go somewhere else. Soon enough, your decision was final. You were getting out of here tomorrow night.

The next day, you did nothing but plan. You dragged a backpack from underneath your bed and started folded up some key pieces of clothing as small as possible, packing them in any crevice of your bag you could fit them in. You had decided. You weren't going to live here anymore. The day went on as usual, but this time you were mentally preparing for your trip. Thinking about bus fares, what routes you would take to ultimately wind up where you needed to be, and taking note of small things such as of creaky flooring in the house, as well as planning a route that would get you through quickly and silently.

After the day had finished, you knew exactly what action to take, and when. Dusk rolled around quicker than usual, and before you knew it, everyone had gone to bed. You waited for hours, restlessly. Finally, you felt that it was time. You sit up, and your bed springs creak ever so slightly from the movement. You stand up quietly, and grab your blanket off your bed, slinging it over your shoulders, loosely tying it so it stayed without you having to hold it in place. You then take your backpack out from underneath your bed and jam your sketchbook into it, along with all the money you saved over your life here, that you kept in just a simple envelope. Heat radiated off of your bed from when you were there moments before, and you looked out the window as you slung your pack over your arm. It was raining. Hard. The moon was shining through the clouds, but the rain had no sign of stopping anytime soon. However, this was your only chance. At least for a while. if you didn't go now, L would most likely pick up your change in behaviour, and guess what you were up to. You were going to leave tonight. It was final. you were never coming back. Not in a million years...and nobody was going to change that.
