"Whatever." Maddie said. "I was just trying to help. She has no life and she's being brainwashed up there at that church."

Mimi was about to start again until I spoke up.

"You can let me out." I said.

"What?"

"I said stop the car. I wanna get out."

"What are you doing?" Mimi stops the car in the middle of the road. "Victoria we in the middle of the city. Where are you gonna go?"

"I appreciate you for caring but I'm grown. I can handle myself." I grabbed my purse and got out of the car.

I definitely needed to go and have a talk with Mama May. She always knew just what to say and exactly what to do. That and I knew she was the only person who lived nearby, a couple of blocks to be exact.

So I walked until I eventually came upon her house. It was exactly the same like it had always been. Brought back a lot of memories.

I knocked on the door and waited patiently for her to answer. Her face instantly lit up after she opened the door and saw that it was me.

"Victoria!" She says opening the screen door and instantly pulling me into an embrace. "How you doing baby?"

"I'm fine Mama." I said rubbing her back.

"Come in. Come in." She says stepping aside for me to walk in.

I walked into the house and she was right behind me. We'd been close for as long as I can remember. She was always down to hear me out. That and I actually missed her a whole lot. And she really, really loves visitors.

"You hungry baby?" She asked.

"No thanks." I sat down on the couch and sat my purse on the coffee table.

She sat down next to me and turned off the television.

"So what's wrong?" She asked.

"What makes you think something is wrong? I can't just come by and see my granny?"

"Girl please. I know you better than that. Now tell me what happened." She asks picking up her tea mug from the table.

"Well I met this guy and I really like him."

She smiles at me, giving me a look that let me know that she definitely interested in knowing more.

"But Madison and Miranda are giving me a hard time about him. Not so much Miranda but Madison. She keeps pushing me to do things that I don't wanna do." I crossed my arms. "I'm just not ready for all of that."

"You're your own woman Victoria. And if you feel like you like this man, then you should continue to see him." She shrugged. "And plus, you know how Madison can get. Your sister just wants the best for you is all." She says getting up from her seat, gesturing for me to follow her into the kitchen. "I'm proud of you for saving yourself and honoring God. And when you find yourself a good husband, then the time will be right."

She poured herself another cup of teas

"So grandmama why haven't you been to church? It's not like you to miss." I asked leaning against the counter.

"I haven't been feeling too good baby. That's all." She waved me off whilst stiring her pot on the stoves. "But I'll be back soon. Don't worry.l

"Are you alright?" I asked her.

"Girl I'm okay." She laughed. "Ain't nothing grandmama can't handle. Just getting older is all. Can't get around like I used to."

I smiled and she kissed my cheek. I was kinda worried about her, but I know she's strong. Hell, she was the strongest woman I knew besides my own mother.
