That is true. Every movie I have watched that has a masquerade dance I can tell who the characters are. The characters just look stupid because they do not know who each other are even though they talk to one another every day.
Besides Seth and Carly, nobody will know who I am though. I will be that mysterious girl awkwardly standing alone in the corner not knowing how to dance.
All three of us pick up a mask at the front doors. Mine is pure black, Carly's is dark red, and Seth's is emerald green. We step into the loud dance room and watch people dance wildly.
The room looks amazing. It has gigantic chandeliers, different varieties of food, and a crazy DJ. I notice a pile of heels laying underneath the food table.
I also notice a lot of people looking at me. They are probably wondering who is this odd, new girl. Goosebumps rise up on my arms, but I ignore the stares.
"Let's do this!" Seth exclaimed. Seth runs over to the food table and Carly and I follow.
"So many cookies to choose from." Carly sighs. I laugh at her comment, but as I am doing so I notice many faces turn towards the entrance.
Two confident girls walk in with their arms linked to each other. They both wear solid black dresses and they have long blonde hair. They look to be twins, but I ask Carly to make sure.
"Who are they?"
Carly takes a second to reply, "Um, they are the Everett twins. The girl on the right is Gabrielle and the girl on the left is Lauren. They don't really talk to anyone unless they want something, but I've heard a lot of weird rumors about them."
I almost asked her what kind of rumors until they both move away and I spot a tall man inches behind them.
He is wearing an all black suit and his brown curls fall onto his shoulders. He walks tall and confident. Part of me believes that is the man from the library, but I told myself that it would be a miracle if I ever saw him again.
I quickly turn to Carly and she has a slight grin on her face. I give her a questionable look.
"That is Harry Styles. He is most defiantly the most handsome man in this entire city. He does not talk much, but his presence in the room is always noticeable. Every girl at the school thinks that he is something special and they all try to talk to him, but he never shows interest. Weird, right?"
"I guess, but that is also kind of smart because it is like he is waiting patiently for the right girl." I spoke quietly.
"Hey look I am going to go find Seth and in the mean time you will find at least one person to talk to, okay?"
I nodded back at her. I am a little upset that she is leaving me all alone, but now is my chance to find someone new.
I slowly pace along the wall and look for anyone who is doing the same. I see Carly and Seth dancing a few feet away and they are having loads of fun.
They would make a cute couple in my opinion. I feel like they secretly like each other, but will not admit it because they always flirt without knowing.
I am tempted to go and attempt to dance with them, but I decide against it. They need to have their fun without making sure I am having fun the whole night.
