Chapter Thirteen.

Start from the beginning

Ray and his cousins came back into the house.

"What's up mama?" he smirked, sitting on the chair leg. "Nothing much just playing with bae," I smirked, rubbing my stomach. "How daddy baby doing?" he rubbed my stomach. "Bae good, just kicking me a lot," I said laughing. He chuckled, then Marlie came back into the living room.

"Oh, y'all back now I can tell y'all both....Doctor Marine said she can take you in today," she said. Ray and I nodded. "What time?" he spoke. "In the next two hours," she said holding her phone. Ray nodded. "You ready, I wanna take you out right quick anyway," he said. I nodded, groaning as I stood up. He grabbed my hand, leading me out of the front door. We walked to the car taking in the bright sunlight. He helped me into the car, shutting the door. Jogging to the driver side, he got inside of the car.

The car ride was silent besides the Yo Gotti playing on the radio. Ray drove around the city, passing through different neighborhoods.

"Ray, where we going?" I asked, adjusting in my seat. "Just showing you around Nashville...it's real country down here, people with southern accents and shit," we both laughed. "Oh, I heard that from auntie Marley already," I said laughing. "Oh yeah," he laughed, making a right turn. "See, right here is Tennessee State university," he said, pointing a campus sign. "Oh okay," I nodded. He drove through the campus, nodding his head to the music on the radio. "I got some homies right in there," he pointed to a neighborhood of houses.

"Tell me something Ray, how come you didn't tell me about your family down here?" I asked. He shook his head. "Well, they weren't in Philly, Marlie my daddy sister. My daddy was from here, but then moved to Philly. He met my mama, then had me and Rek.." he trailed off, "So when Rek died, I felt like I didn't have shit. I could be on my own cause I'm eighteen so I could of been down here...I just didn't want to leave you and our child. Now that Ms. Carmen gone, I felt like we were forced to leave Philly. I swear I hope you understand soon."

I sighed. "I didn't want to leave my dad and sister Ray," I whimpered. "I know, but you don't know Meek like I do baby. This nigga could of found out where you was if we stayed in Philly, where could have went?" Ray asked. "To my daddy's house!" I exclaimed not being able to control my emotions. He sighed. "Baby, Meek could of found out where he lives. We lucky if he don't find out we down here. I love you, I hated to see that happen to your mama, she was like a mama to me too. Just.....let me figure things out okay? I don't want you or my baby stressing," he sighed, swerving to drive on a busy street. "You hungry?" he asked. I nodded. "I'll get you something," he said, turning into a Krystals, I read of the sign.

"What is this?" I asked, pointing to the restaurant. "Krystals, it's very different down here bae," Ray said laughing. He drove to the drive-thru, ordering a chili cheese fry and a chili cheese pup with a drink. He paid for the order, receiving the food and drink. He handed me the bag and cup. I opened the bag, the scent of the food submerged my stomach. The food smelt so good, oh my goodness.

I opened a box, eating a fry out of my order. Oh my goodness, my baby kicked up a storm. The food was ecstacy to the both of us.

"Ray, this is good!" I beamed, eating more fries. He laughed. "I see that baby," he laughed, cruising down the street. Within two hours, we were in the doctor's office, signing in. We sat down.

"Are you excited?" I asked Ray, rubbing my stomach. He nodded, rubbing my stomach with me.

Thirty Minutes Later....

"Courtney Stevenson!" a doctor called out. Ray stood up, helping me up. We followed the nurse to an examination, following her checking my vitals. She led us into another room, helping me into the chair.

"Ray, I'm so nervous," I laughed nervously. He held my hand, sitting next to me. "Don't be worried bae, I'm here for you, always," he kissed my hand. I smiled, sighing. An OBGYN walked in.

"Hello, how are y'all?" she asked. "Good," I replied. She sat in a roller chair. "So y'all are here to find out the gender of the baeby, right?" she asked. I nodded, giggling at her accent. "What's funny?" she smirked, rolling near us. I shook my head. "Pull ya shirt up fa' me baeby," she patted my belly. I pulled my shirt up as powered the sonogram machine. Right as she powered the remote, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out, seeing my dad calling me. "I need to take this," I blurted. The OBGYN and Ray looked at me, she nodded. I answered.

"Hello?" I answered. "Courtney," he spoke. "Hi daddy," I said. "Where are you? Are you safe? Who you wi-" I cut him off, "I'm fine daddy, I'm with Ray in Nashville."

"Nashville, what you doing in Nashville Courtney?" he barked. I sighed. "It's too long of a story dad, I'm a doctor's office, can I call you later?" I asked. He sighed. "Yeah, come here Sabrina!" he yelled to the background, "Okay daddy!" I heard her small voice yell back. I whimpered, falling into tears. Ray rubbed my shoulders. "Tell your sister you love her," he told Sabrina, "I love you Courtney!" she said. I sobbed. "I love you too Sabrina," I cried. Ray looked at me with sympathy, holding my hand. The OBGYN rubbed my shoulder, I'm assuming Marlie told her my situation. "Talk to you later Courtney sweetie, I love you," dad said. "I love you too," I sniffled, hanging up. I slid my phone into my pocket.

"You ready?" the OBGYN asked. I nodded, reading her name tag. It said "Keisha".

"Can I call you Ms. Keisha?" I asked. "Of course girl, you can even call me Kee if you want to," she smiled, "this gon be cold."

She rubbed the jelly all over my stomach, rubbing the remote across my stomach. My baby was big on the screen. From the looks of it, it was sucking its thumb.

"Let's see what we having," she smiled, moving the remote further down my stomach. "Oh, from the looks of it....we have...a....girl," she smiled. I grinned, Ray sucked his teeth. "I wanted a boy," he snarled, I rubbed his arm. "Aw baby, it's okay, maybe next time, but for now, I got my baby girl," I smiled. "Yeah, my lil princess," he said.

As we walked out of the doctor's office, we both looked at our own personal copies of the sonogram pictures. I took a picture, sending it to Pooh and Alicia.

Now only time will tell how our future is gonna play out.
