"You are still a camper. I told you to run until you drop. Now you do it."
I could tell she wanted to argue, but my steely gaze didn't waver. She scowled at me before joining the other campers.
"Wow, I'm impressed." Said a voice from behind me.
I turned around to see familiar blue eyes. "Thalia...right?" I asked. I wasn't 'acting so the campers wouldn't figure out I was Percy Jackson, blah blah blah'. I haven't seen the girl in a hundred years. My memory isn't great, and when I first saw her, I didn't remember her name. Let's be realistic here. You leave when people are already forgetting you. You come back looking different, but concealing clothing so they can't see my face...It makes no sense that people automatically think you are some guy who disappeared over a hundred years ago. I wasn't Immortal when I left, so why would they have any reason to believe I was alive? It isn't likely that a mysterious powerful guy shows up to save their podexes and they just go 'Oh, this guy is mysterious! He must be Percy Jackson! Ahhhh!' No one in their right mind thinks that way. Besides, I don't really think of myself as Percy Jackson anymore, so why should they? Phantom isn't a nickname, after all. It is my identity, it is who I am. And I'm not saying that I think of 'Percy Jackson' as a different person, it just isn't the name I go by. It is still me, just like Phantom is me. It all comes together.
All of that may seem a little confusing, but just roll with it.
She nodded. "And you are the guy that gets Annie so pissed off. I can't say it isn't amusing to me."
I laughed. "You get amusement from your friend's anger and frustration?"
Thalia shrugged. "Well, when you put it like that...it's still yes. It's hilarious."
"Not for her."
"For you and me, it is."
I smirked. "What makes you think I find it amusing?"
"Because that's obvious." Thalia scoffed. "I'm pretty sure everyone finds it funny."
"Why is that?" I asked.
Thalia gave me a look. "What is this, an interrogation?"
"Not quite. I'm just curious."
"Curiosity killed the cat."
"Good thing I'm not a cat, then. I'm just the guy who was blessed and mentored by the founders of Creation, and an all powerful idiot."
"A self-proclaimed idiot, huh?"
"No. A second I'm this wise, all knowing, mysterious powerful guy. The next, well, I can be really stupid."
"Then why are you here?" Thalia asked, raising a brow.
I laughed. "Oh, I'm here because I'm all powerful either way."
Thalia laughed. "Okay then."
I got a weird feeling in my gut. It felt like trouble.
No, it wasn't 'butterflies' or anything like that. It was an actual feeling of trouble. Sometimes, before a battle would start, I'd feel it in my stomach, a weird feeling I can't describe. But it was always accurate. Weird, but accurate.
"This isn't good." I muttered.
"What?"
"There is a small army of monsters heading this way. They'll be here in about twenty minutes." I said. "Yo! Campers! There is a change of plans! Fall in!"
Two minutes, I was surrounded by panting campers.
"Listen up! There isn't time left, which sucks before we got, like, nothing done. But that is besides the point. There is a small army heading this way."
That was met with a lot of noise I wasn't listening to. "Shut up!" I said. "Think of this as a trial. Fifteen minutes. If you can last fifteen minutes, I'll take over. None of you will die, I will be watching, and I'll intervene before that can happen, all right? Does that sound fair?" I didn't wait for them to respond. "Good, glad we've got that covered. Now armor up, or whatever. Get your stuff together, because you'll need it to last fifteen minutes against an army of monsters." All of them just watched me, they didn't move. "Are you guys deaf, or what? Go!"
When the last of them scurried off, I turned to come face to face with a face I knew well, but couldn't put a name to.
"Who are you?" I asked. "And what are you doing?"
"Oh, I'm covered. I'm just trying to figure you out."
"And how's that working out for you?"
He didn't answer. He just stuck his hand out. He had a pair of blue eyes that I had just seen on a particular daughter of Zeus. "Jason Grace. I'm a son of Jupiter. Who might you be to be bossing around my Camp like this?"
"I'm your salvation." I said blankly. "Or you can call me Phantom."
Jason nodded, masking his expression. "I see."
"What do you see, Son of Jupiter?"
"Nothing that concerns you."
"All right, then," I said, letting the matter drop. I wasn't going to pry. He was another old friend from my past. I didn't know what that meant to me. I didn't really think it meant anything.
So I walked away. I turned away, and walked until I found a bench. I felt his eyes burning holes in the back of my head. I sat down and closed my eyes.
I felt everything and nothing. I saw nothing an everything. An experience impossible to describe to people who haven't felt it. The power of the Universe. I felt it washing over me, and felt at peace.
Which was a strange feeling considering the Campers were preparing for a battle, but it is true. It is how I felt.
I was everywhere and nowhere. I was in the dark, as well as the light. And in that moment, the world opened up to me, and everything became clear.
So, hello readers.
I just wanted to say that just in case, there is no Perlia, Thalcy, or Percy/Thalia at all. Just a good budding friendship. In these books, it is pretty obvious, and when characters start to get closer, it pretty much is a shoe-in for a relationship. Well, here it is not the case. Nor will he be with Annabeth. In fact, he won't be with anyone in this book. Namely, two reasons. One, I just don't think it fits for this book. And two...that just does fit with this stories direction.
So yes, Just in case, I wanted to clear that up. Please vote and comment, because seeing votes and comments makes my day, so try and do that if you can.
I don't really think there is anything else to say besides; I am mainly working on my story with Percy as Voldemort's grandson. If you haven't read that, give it a whirl. It has a lot more chapters than this because it is my main focus, and if it takes me a while to update this, it's because I'm working on that.
