Chapter 13: In The Hospital, Again

Start from the beginning

“Oh.” I said, fidgeting nervously. “You should really go home! Where’s Gerard? He was with me when I passed out.” I said. I was actually where Gerard was. I hope he was okay and I didn’t cause him too much trouble.

“Oh yeah he’s sleeping in the other room; he hasn’t been home yet. He called me as soon as it happened and I’ve been here ever since.” He said.

“I’m sorry.” I said, I felt really bad for ruining their summer.

“It’s no problem.” He said, grinning. “I’m just glad you’re okay. You’re Mum was here this morning as well. She left some flowers but she had to get back to the office.” He said through a grimace.

“Oh thanks Mikes. Please go home now! I mean it. I’ll drop by yours when I get out. But seriously go home and have a proper sleep.” I cried.

“I guess you’re right. Tell Gerard where I’ve gone, because no doubt he’ll be in here again soon. He practically didn’t leave your side all of yesterday evening. I practically had to drag him to the bed.” Mikey said laughing. “It was little weird really.” He said again and his laughed turned into a nervous giggle.

I blushed and turned away. “It’s fine Mikes. He’s probably just worried. I mean he was there when I blacked out.” I said quickly, trying to win Mikey over.

“I guess.” He said shrugging and squeezing my hand one last time before pulling his hand out. “Get well soon Dana.” He said and planting a kiss on my forehead before walking to the door and slipping out.

I slumped down in the soft bed and stretched my arm out behind so my arm brushed the cold metal of the bed frame. This caused shivers of shock to shoot down my arm making me shudder in discomfort.

I felt my eyelids drooping and let the sleep succumb me. I guess that ironically, after being passed out for a whole day I would need to rest. I let my body fall into a peaceful slumber.

I twitch nervously and blink my eyes open. I see the glistening hazel eyes staring at me worriedly. Those eyes could show me exactly what they were thinking, full of joy but also full of knowledge and pain. They suddenly change, much brighter and more sparkly.

“Dana!” The eyes spoke gently.

“Gerard? Is that you?” I asked sleepily, knowing the answer already. I knew those beautiful but troubled eyes from anywhere.

“Yes?” Gerard asked quickly, sitting down on the bed by my side. “How are you doing? Mikey said you’d been up earlier. He left a voicemail on my phone. I’m pissed he didn’t wake me up.” He said pouting and crossing his arms.

“He said he wasn’t going to.” I explained and he nodded. “You didn’t have to stay!” I said in a whiney tone.

“Oh but I did.” Gerard said shyly, pushing his hand through his jet black hair, as he so often did. “I felt so bad!” He continued.

“You shouldn’t be. It wasn’t your fault I fainted. You can blame my faulty liver for that.” I said through a stifled giggle. I saw Gerard’s serious face and stopped laughing. “Seriously it’s fine Gee!” I said again, using his nickname sneakily to make him happy again.

“I guess so.” He said, and then stood up. “I got you something.” He said shyly, shuffling his feet nervously. “I’ll just go and get it.” He said rushing to the door and slipping out quickly.

“You didn’t have to.” I cried at him as he ran through the door. Great.

~Gerard’s POV~

I ran out of the door, shutting it quickly behind me. Then I leant against the door and sighed heavily, attracting a few strange glances. Great, nice one Gerard. Now you’re going to have to show her it. If you’d just kept your mouth shut we wouldn’t be in this situation.
