I roll my eyes at his statement.

"You don't have to do anything that either of you don't want to do," Stefan said, looking between me and my sister.

Elena and I exchanged looks. "We'll look for it tonight."

Elena lays back down in the bed, pulling the sheets over her face.

"Good."

"How do we know that this journal will hold the location of the grimoire?" Stefan asked his brother. "We're really going to take the word of this vampire? He seemed like a bit of a dimwit."

"In liue of any other options," Damon replied.

Elena pulls the sheets down and sits up suddenly. "Ok, what exactly is a grimoire, anyway?"

"Isn't it like a book for witch's, or something?" I asked.

"Yes, it's a witch's cookbook," Damon explained.

Elena and I look at Stefan for a better description. "Every spell that a witch casts is unique unto itself, so every witch would document their work..."

"Yeah, cookbook."

I look at Damon. "Has anyone ever told you how annoying you are." My only response was, of course, an annoying smirk.

"What about our mystery vampire?" Stefan questioned. "Dimwit obviously wasn't working alone, so whoever's out there knows who we are."

"And I don't like that disadvantage, so..." Damon claps his hands together. "Chop, chop." He starts to walk out of the room, turns around, and continues to walk backwards out of the room while talking to Elena and Stefan. "You know, I really like this whole menage a threesome team thing. It's got a bit of a kink to it." He chuckles. "Don't screw it up." Damon exits the room.

Well, this got awkward really fast.

I fell backwards onto Stefan's bed and groaned out loudly. I raise my hands, pretending to have it around someone's neck, specifically Damon, and wringing it back and forth. "That's me wanting to snap his neck."

I hear a few chuckles.

Gilbert Residence
Elena and I are combing through boxes of old family memorabilia. Stefan sits at the breakfast bar, watching us.

"Do you think Damon really believes us? That we're all trying to help him?" Elena asked.

"Who cares," I remarked, which earned a glare from Elena.

"I don't think Damon knows what to believe. Trust isn't something that comes naturally to him."

I snorted. "That's an understatement."

"You know... I really think that Damon believes that everything he's done, every move that he's made, he's done for love. It's twisted, but kind of sad."

I thought for a moment, at what she said before looking at her. "You're weird." Elena glares at me.

Stefan cracks a smile. "There are other ways to get what you want. You don't have to kill people. Damon has no regard for human life. He enjoys inflicting pain on others. For 145 years, every single time that I have let my guard down and let Damon back into my life, he's done something to make me regret that. I'm not going to make that mistake again."

Yeah, I have no response for that.

"So what do you think will happen if the tomb gets opened and Damon gets Katherine back?" I asked Stefan.

"I think that no matter what Damon promises, a lot of people will die."

I exhale loudly and pick up a photo from the box. I heard shuffling behind me and then a presence.
