chapter 31

"James texted me to start working and I want to get this project done as soon as possible so I got to go!" He shouted from down the hallway.

I waved goodbye. Great. I don't have a ride home.

I sat by myself outside the school waiting for my mom to pick me up. This was silly because I don't have a car and I can just easily drive but no. I sighed as I swung my feet on the bench- thinking of a topic for the project. I'll probably make a slide show of dad. I have plenty of footage and pictures with him and easily can explain why he is so important to me. I heard murmuring behind me as I turned around. I saw Tyler walking towards me while he talked in the phone. He said bye and hung up and smiled at me, "Hey Aria."

"Hi Tyler." I smiled.

"Do you need a ride?" He asked.

I slowly nodded, "Yeah kind of."

He chuckled, "Come on I'll give you a ride."

I nodded as I texted my mom that I had found a ride. As we got into his car the ride was semi- awkward. Then I thought maybe he could help me with my situation. But can I still trust him?

"Listen, Tyler. Even though things ended badly I still want us to be friends. And I want to know that I can still trust you." I said keeping my focus on the road.

I could feel him getting nervous, "I still love you Aria. Of course you can trust me." He said.

I looked at him with sympathy.

"Don't look at me like that. I knew you would chose Dave over me. Even though I want to punch a fucking wall-" He gritted through his teeth and gripped the wheel, "as long as your happy so am I. And I'd be honored to be your friend." He smiled to me.

I smiled back.

"But you know if want to be more than fri-"

"Tyler." I warned.

He chuckled making me grin.

I cleared my throat, "Well since we're on good terms now," I began. "can you keep a secret?" I asked.

He nodded and I told him everything. From when James flirted with me to where he took advantage of me. I told him that Dave doesn't know anything about it and if I told him he would switch everything on me. Blaming me for everything and that James would send Dave back to Seattle.

"Why would he do that?" Tyler said.

I shook my head, "I don't know."

He sighed, "If there's anything I could do to help Aria, I'm here."

"Thanks but I don't kn-" I paused. "Wait can you drive my to this address.." I said typing in James' work building, "your going to help me hack into their survelince camera so I could show the evidence to the police."

We got to the building and entered through the back door so Dave or James wouldn't see us. We found the room that had all the security cameras but none of them had cameras in James office.

"It's not here!" I whispered yelled in frustration.

"Well keep looking! We're going to get caught." Tyler said.

"Just see if there's anyone coming!"

My hands kept pressing random buttons switching each camera to different locations keeping my eyes focused on all the screens and all of a sudden I heard a fire alarm go on.

"What the heck?!" I said. "What's going on?!" I asked Tyler.

He looked at me confused and rolled his eyes, "You pulled the frickin' fire alarm!"

I looked at my hand as it hovered over the red fire alarm, "Oops." I shrugged.

"Come on we have to get out of here!" Tyler said.

"Tyler calm down there is no fire!"

"Oh right." He said calmly. "It looks like everyone is headed outside." Tyler said.

"So there's nobody here?!"

"Nope."

"Okay, I think there's one place to find the footage," I huffed. "come on!" I dragged him.

We ran to James office, I tried twisting the knob, "It's locked!" I groaned.

Tyler scoffed, "Back away princess." He said and kicked the door open.

I gave him a smile and opened the door. "The camera is up there, help me reach it." I told him.

Tyler moved a desk so I could hop on it. He helped me up as I reached for the camera. "I almost got it." I strained. Finally I grabbed the camera and unhooked it from the wall. "I got it!" I cheered.

"Okay come down now, we don't want anybody seeing us." I heard.

He helped me down as I landed backwards. I turned around to see James and Tyler had been tied up to a chair with duct tape around his mouth.

"Well if it isn't batman and robin." He smiled.
