Chapter 10; Blackgate Prison

He walks always and I groan, calling his name again. "Henson." I whine, a pout on my face. He was the only officer in this whole prison who could resist me. I don't know how he did it. He stops, his head rolling back before he comes back to the door. I smile, and point down to the gun in his hand. "That gun looks fun. Maybe I could play for a while?"

Henson just smirks up at me, not answering me. I bite my lip, standing on my toes and staring down at it before looking back at him. "I'll make it worth your while." I bluff in a sing songy voice before I lick the bars.

He gives me a satisfied "hmpf" and I give him a phony wink before he stands back

He gives me a satisfied "hmpf" and I give him a phony wink before he stands back. I watch him as he reaches up to his walkie. "Zap her."

Before I even have time to react, an unexpected electric shock is sent through the bars, causing me to fall backwards onto my butt.

I lay there, staring up at the surveillance camera on the ceiling. I watched them all the time, wondering if J had tapped into them and if he was watching me right now. With every electric shock, more hope was restored as I remembered the electroshock therapy.

You'll be mine forever, he promised, looking down at me, waiting for the electric cables to charge as he placed a belt between my teeth. You'll never need anyone else. Anything else. You'll feel complete.

Surely J wouldn't break a promise would he?

"He would," I hear a voice outside of my cell. I had been talking outloud. "And he did, whatever that promise may be."

I sit up and look at the little window, finding Henson standing there, smiling at me in a satisfied manner. I stand up and slowly near the window. I squint at him, feeling anger spread throughout my body. "What was that?"

"Joker is not coming for you." He shrugs, looking me in the eyes.

"Don't say that." I growl, gripping the bars of the window. Making me angry was the last thing he should do and he knew that. "Otherwise, you can open this door and say it to my face."

He just chuckles, chewing his gum. "Really? Open the door? You know I'm not falling for that. You put 3 of my men in the hospital."

"I learned from the best." I giggle at him, referring to J. Henson gives me a serious look that only lasts a split second before he breaks out in loud laughter.

"Yeah, well," he says, taking a deep breath and turning around to stand guard at my door. "The best got bored of ya, Athena. He's held a whole funeral for you. Seems like you weren't so important after all, huh?."

I roar, punching the door hard. Henson just knew how to agitate me. My hand stung as I backed away from the door, breathing hard and a raspy laugh escaping my throat. I laid down on my hard metal bed, drawing patterns on the wall with my finger. I couldn't stop laughing. Like when I found J with Harleen. Or when he came to the warehouse. My worried laugh, my scared laugh, my anxious laugh. Would I be here forever? To rot?
