Burn the Death List

"Why not...Who would want to marry me?"

"Exactly, but I mean no offense."

"None taken, yes Mr. Wakely I want to be your wife." And she holds his face, touching everything from his eyes, nose to mouth. Then suddenly she pulls him to her and kisses him passionately.

Not long after that wedding bells rung in the city's cathedral. It was full and it's in the front pages of the papers, and the net. The couple didn't have a long honeymoon because Tate's father got worse. So Tate and his new wife stay behind him until his last breath. The following day it was announced that Tate is now the owner of the company much to the young man's delight and to Mitt's disappointment.

A more joyous occasion came one Saturday morning when Tate went with Elisha to the hospital because of her constant migraine, they both found out she is with child. He was so overjoyed he declared a holiday in the whole company with regular pay. Of course Mitt didn't take it lightly as he told one of the board members,

"His squandering this company's money for his selfish goals, and he hasn't done anything to raise our revenue!"

Meanwhile the couple just got back from the hospital to their mansion which was styled like the 17th century European palaces. He sends Elisha to bed to rest and while he went to the living room and watched. A news flash came as the female reporter said,

"We have some breaking news. We just receive a new list of people who will soon face death." It is regular news particularly to the XYZ channel. They have some strange way of figuring out who will die and no one knows how, even Tate's friend who used to work on that company. Tate is too happy to think of these unfortunate people, so he went to get a cognac and was drinking when he almost choked when he heard this,

"And last on the list that will die on the last day of week is Mr. Tate Wakely, the owner of the Wake Corporation." Tate can't believe what he heard he had to repeat the news thrice to make sure it is his name. He can't believe it now everything is going well now he has to die. He keeps pacing back and forth thinking of what to do. Everyone knows that whoever is mention in the news will be dead within seven days. Suddenly the home phone keeps ringing and a servant went to the living room informing him Mitt had heard the news and wants to talk to him. He told the servant to tell everyone who is looking for him that he is not at home. He even ignored his phone and turned it off. It was a sleepless night for him.

First day

When he went to work the following day he can't help noticing his employees looking at him. He knows what they are thinking and at the board room everyone is talking at the same time as their Finance manager said.

"The stockholders are concern about what they saw on the news yesterday."

"Even our own employees have doubts." The Human Resources manager said.

"It's nothing; it's just bullshit advertisement to score higher ratings." Defended Tate, everyone started talking at the same time with different opinions, so Mitt stood up and said,

"Let's not jump into conclusion. We are not certain that this list is valid or certain."

"It's valid for sure, everyone knows everyone on that list dies." another board member said. Mitt approaches Tate and pats him in the shoulder and turns to the others and said,

"Like I said before we are not jumping into conclusions." Then he turns to Tate and said, "My advice is to take your wife in a vacation. Just try to clear your head of this issue." Tate looks at him and smile. Mitt continues, "You look awful." They both laugh as Tate said,
