Episode 12

The service for Dale was as heart wrenching as Sophia's. Carl couldn't stop crying and I comforted him the best I could. Then Andrea, Shane, T-Dog, and Daryl went out for a while. When they got back, we all moved into the house.

"You unpacked?" I asked Carl.

"What's the point?" he said.

"Well, we are officially living in here. And can I ask you something?" I replied.

"Sure," Carl answered, looking at me.

"When Dale died, I saw you look at the walker and cry harder. Why?" I asked.

Carl looked away from me as he sighed and explained, "When I went out for my walk, I took a gun from Daryl's motorcycle. I went into the woods and saw that same walker stuck in the mud, about knee deep. I threw rocks at it and was about to shoot it. But it got free and attacked me. I got away, but I think it followed me and that's when it killed Dale. I can't forgive myself after that."

I was surprised at this but I knelt down in front of him, held his hands, and said, "I understand that you think it's your fault, but take it from someone who is still blaming herself for her parents' disappearance. We can't change what happened, but there is a way to move on. I hope you can see that."

We hugged and he went to talk to Shane. As the day went on, I felt like Carl still blamed himself. When Rick talked to him in the barn, I think he accepted what we said when he took the gun.

It was time to release Randall, but when T-Dog went to get him, he was gone. We were all outside trying to figure out what to do. Shane came with a bloody face, saying Randall had his gun and he was loose. Rick, Shane, Daryl, and Glenn went out to search while the rest of us went in the house.

Carl and I looked through binoculars in the window when it went dark. The search was taking too long. Some time later, we went outside to wait for them but then we heard a gunshot, a scream, then someone wailing into the night. We ran to see Rick sitting with his back to us and Shane dead.

"Dad?" Carl asked.

"Rick?" I added.

When he saw us, he said we should be back at the farmhouse as he walked towards us. Carl held his gun pointed in Rick's direction, but it wasn't Rick he was aiming at. I hid behind Carl as Shane, as a walker, came towards Rick. Rick begged him to put it down, but Carl shot Shane in the head. Now that Shane's gone, will there be some peace in this group?

Episode 13

Rick, Carl, and I were walking back to the house, talking about what just happened.

"How did Shane die?" Carl asked.

Rick looked at us about to tell us, but then we heard moans. We looked around to see a whole horde of walkers. We ran to the barn and locked it. How did this happen? Maybe it was when Carl shot Shane, but I wasn't blaming anything on him. Then we grabbed gasoline and poured it on the floor. Rick gave us a lighter, told us to drop it when told to and that he loved us, then we went up the ladder while Rick led the walkers in. He climbed up and he shouted for us to drop the lighter, which we did. The whole barn caught on fire. We made it outside and saw Jimmy bring the RV. We got on top of it, but then walkers got in the RV and ate him alive. We went down the ladder and we ran. The others were driving in cars back and forth, shooting at the walkers one by one. The others were trying to leave as fast as they could too. We found Hershel reloading his gun and we saved him from another walker. We all got in a truck and sped off. The barn burnt down and I hoped and prayed that everyone else made it out alright. As we drove, Hershel looked back toward his farm that now belonged to the horde.

"I'm sorry, Hershel. About your farm," I said.

He sighed then responded, "It's not your fault. I appreciate the gesture. Thank you."

I smiled and hugged him. The next morning we made it back to the highway where they left supplies for Sophia. Carl said that we needed to go back for Lori, but when Rick tried to talk to him, he stalked off. I went after him.

"Carl, you know your mom is a strong woman. She will come back," I replied.

"Yeah but when? She's pregnant and I don't know if she's dead or alive, but I'm hoping for the best," he said.

"You should. Because I know she's alive and coming back for you and Rick," I explained.

"Same with you," Carl said.

We heard a walker come by and we all hid behind one of the cars. Then the other cars pulled up and we hugged Lori when she came out of the car. We all hugged then checked to see who wasn't there. We knew Jimmy and Patricia were dead and we weren't sure if Andrea made it out or not. And Rick, Carl, and I knew Shane was dead and we told them he was. So we drove until Rick was almost out of gas. We all got out to talk about shelter and fire. But then we talked about Randall and he was dead, actually a walker, but not from a bite or scratch.

"We're all infected," Rick confessed.

Rick said Jenner told him that no matter how we die except from a head injury, we turn into a walker. No one knew what to say. Rick went off for a minute and Lori went to talk to him. She was hugging him from behind until he started talking to her about something, probably what happened before the horde. She came back mad and wouldn't go anywhere near him for a while.

That night, we camped over a fire. That night was so cold. Carl and I bundled up together to keep warm. We heard something and said we should go. But Rick said we needed to stay and he even admitted to killing Shane. Carl cried and I was shocked about what happened, but at the same time, I was relieved. Rick even gave us a choice to leave the group, but no one did. That night was hectic, basically one night I won't forget. But I have a long list of those. Where do we go now? The farm is gone and were on our own. What can we do?
