Do you wanna build a snowman, Lovi? (Spamano, hetalia)

Start from the beginning

(Go on, sing along) "Do you wanna build a snow man? Come on let's go outside an play!" His gleeful, wide grin shone as he waited outside the white wood door, continuing to talk until the other gave in like usual.

"I never see you anymore! Come out the door, it's like you've gone away." A tanned hand went up to the door as he said that, it wasn't like it wasn't true. Lovino had been ignoring him recently.

"We used to be best buddies!" He complained and stuck his face up against the wood. "But now, we're not. I wish you would tell me why!" Some cheekiness shone in his emerald eyes as he put on a funny voice that he always used to use when the Italian was sad.

"Do you wanna build a snow man~? It doesn't have to be a snow man~!"

"Go away, Antonio!" Came the reply from the door, a rather tired and grumpy 11 year old school boy was trying to do his homework with his brother, whom was giving him a confused look when he shouted at his 'special friend'. The spaniard took a step back, his bare feet becoming cold all of a sudden. A look of shock and hurt swept across his face, followed by a downhearted sigh.

"Okay...bye..."

Another few years had past and the imaginary Spanish boy was no longer a boy, he was a young man; 16 years old. Well, at least in his version he was a man. He slid around the quiet house on his cold, bare tanned feet. They were starting to look a little blue around the edges, as well as his fingertips, but I'd didn't matter much to him. His heart was warm and that was all that mattered! He stopped sliding around aimlessly and peeked outside a window, seeing the clean, bright white blanket that covered the front garden, the car, the streets and the tree branches. Overcome with joy he ran to Lovino's study room an knocked excitedly on the door.

"Do you wanna build a snow man? Throw some snowballs around the cars?" His voice was deeper than it had been, showing his obvious age. From inside, the younger friend had others around to study, that and mess around a little.

"I think some company is overdue, I've started talking to the pictures on the walls!" Hearing the voice through the door, Lovino banished the sounds and instead tried to listen to the others funny story. It was best he forgot about having an imaginary friend around real friends. Antonio's smile faltered slightly, a hint of being ignored on purpose filtering through.

"Lovi? It gets a little lonely being by myself, just watching the hours tick by." A loud laugh interrupted him and his smile fell completely, baking away from the door and feeling a chill blow through him even though the house was cosily warmed. He knew Lovi didn't want to play with him again this year... He didn't want to build a snowman...

-----------

After another 5 years of hopelessly trying to get Lovino's attention, the unloved friend walked the halls slowly, freezing. He hugged himself pathetically and his feet, hands and parts of his face were now dark blue from the cold. It had been getting colder year after year for him, each movement only getting harder and harder. He often found himself walking up to his friends study door, hand ready to knock. But there wouldn't be an answer anyway. It was useless. After 5 years, after Antonio had become an adult, he shifted over to the door again, not even checking through the window this time to see if it really had snowed. He managed only one knock.

"L-Lovi...porfavor, I know you're in there. H-have you been wondering where I've been?" Dull green eyes looked on through the door, but the one he wanted to see was so out of sight.

"R-remember when I said I'd die for you? i-I'm here for you... Porfavor, let me in.." He crumpled to the floor, shivering against his inner cold; so mind numbingly freezing that it burned. His teeth chattered relentlessly, one tan and blue hand reaching up to stroke the wood of the door.

"Y-your the only friend I've ever had, j-just you a-and me... What am I going to do..?" He rested his head against the door, finally deciding that his Lovino, his wonderful, moody, little Lovino, had grown up. He didn't need an imaginary friend anymore... One last try.

"D...d-do you wanna build a snowman?" A small smile came to his face, remembering the good days where he would leap up at the words. Where they held each others hands and had the best time of their lives together... 'Of course I want to build a snowman, idioto!'

"...of course I want to build a snowman...bastardo."

A heart with love is a warm heart, a heart without hope is a cold heart. But a heart without friendship will stop beating...
