"You may not be now but you will be in time." He told me.

I shook my head. "No, I won't be."

"Yes you will." He was confident. "It'll just take time to build up tolerance and once you do, you'll be like me. Emotions won't rule your heart."

"I don't want to be anything like you." I muttered. "Leave me alone."

I heard the door open and close again, he had left without another word.

I pulled on my sweater and pulled my hood on and left the room. I had to look for Annabeth and see how she was doing. I hoped she didn't hate me for what happened.

I knocked on her bedroom door and waited.

"Annabeth...it's me..." I said talking to the door. I knocked again. "Are you in there? I want to talk."

I pressed my ear against the door and listened to see if I could hear anything on the other side; It was quiet. Nothing stirred or moved.

"She's not there." A women's voice informed.

I turned and saw it was Yesenia, Malcolm's first mate. She was the only one I hadn't talked to yet because she was never around. I wondered what she did around the house.

"Where is she?" I asked.

She looked me over with her judging eyes and I could tell she was deciding on whether or not to tell me. "She left with Porter a few minutes ago." She finally answered.

"Where?"

She shrugged. "It's not my job to know where she goes."

"Is it too hard to simple say no?" I remarked.

"Yes it is," she folded her arms. She hated me, it didn't take genius to figure that out.

"Did I do something to you?" I asked.

"You don't belong here." She said ignoring my question. "You're ruining everything."

"You think I want to be here?" I told her. "I wish I could go back to my old life but I can't!"

"Run away and this time, pick a better place to hide." She said.

"How? There's so many people watching my every move." I stressed.

She scoffed. "Again, you're not that special. No ones watching you. Look around, Mia, everyone's busy running around and no ones watching you."

She was right. Everyone was busy and I was left alone. I could leave out the front door and no one would notice and if they did, they wouldn't care.

"Unless you wanna be here." She finished reading into my quietness.

"I don't know what I want anymore." I admitted.

"So you like him now?" She said confused.

I shook my head. "N-No I don't...it's complicated."

"There's nothing complicated about your situation." She said dismissively. "Brian's dead so you owe Malcolm nothing."

She was right but I felt I couldn't just walk away. I had promised Malcolm and I didn't want to break it. Even though every cell in my body was telling me not to go through with it.
