"I have no idea." He pointed to the closed vault, "I opened that and then those weird crawly things came out." He pointed to the squashed crawly. I took a closer look at it, it was blue and purple with about 10 legs and even it's blood was blue. Ew.

"Is this from Karen?" Ben asks.

"I think so." Hal said. "We need to tell Weaver and my dad." We went to find them and a few minutes later we were back at the vault.

Hal, Maggie, Ben, and I went back upstairs an waited for Tom and Pope to return. They said it's too dangerous for us to be down there while they're looking for Anne, Matt, and Lourdes together. The door opens quickly and we back up so we don't get hit with it. Tom came out followed by Anne, Lourdes, Matt, and Pope.

"Where's Jamil?" Weaver asked walking up to them. I had forgotten he had gone down there to find them. Anne solemnly shook her head.

Weaver looks at Lourdes "I'm so sorry..." He trails off. Lourdes and Jamil had gotten really close over the past few weeks, I thought they were a cute couple. I wanted to say something to try and comfort her, but her eyes started watering and she walked away.

"Tell her we need to get going." Weaver told Anne before she left too. "Come on Hal an Maggie, we need to find a way out of here." Weaver commands walking down the hall, they follow.

"What are we going to do now Dad?" Ben asks.

"I'm going to go talk to our 'house guest'." Tom quickly walks to the Psych room and we follow.

"Open it!" He tells the guard. He does as he's told, we enter the cell, and I stand close to Ben. Tom aims his sniper rifle at the fish-head, who's sitting on the ground.

"Either this siege ends or you do!" Tom yells at it. It gets up slowly, the chains attached to his limbs rattling. It stares at Ben and I. Everything goes black.

Tom's POV

I stood there, my gun pointed and ready to shoot.

"At last we have the chance to speak again..." Ben and Ashley said simultaneously. "I've been looking forward to it, Professor Mason.

I looked at the children I had known since birth, being controlled by an alien.

"Ben, Ashley?"

"I'm afraid they can't hear you."

I looked back at the towering being. "What do you want?"

"Peace."

I scoffed, "I didn't think your kind had a sense of humor. How does genocide equal peace?"

"Tom, if we were here to commit genocide every one of you would be dead. We have no interest in annihilating your people. Think of it as a correction.

"A correction?" My words were shaky. Everything they said gave me the chills.

"Yes. Your planet, like so many others, is to put it bluntly, spiraling out of control. You fight to the death over dwindling resources while your population continues to-"

"We don't need your help solving our problems, thank you."

"Of course. Once our task here is completed we will move on from your-"

"What task? Why are you here?"

"That is none of your concern. But disrupting our operation and continuing to obstruct the inevitable can only result in more pain and suffering.

"Except we aren't alone anymore in resisting your occupation."

The fish-head paused. "Are you referring to the so called rebellion?"

"I am! And they scare the hell out of you, don't they?"

"We w-will defeat them."

"Perhaps, but you haven't even managed to defeat us yet! And we will continue to bleed you every single day that you're here."

It stares me down "You don't have the strength, the fanatical will to prevail against us. You're weak, crippled by sentiment...case in point."

I looked at it confused and then I heard Ben and Ashley collapse to the floor. I got down to their aid. They started seizures and their noses bled.

"Stop it!" I begged. He was killing them! My son and and a girl who was like my daughter was dying and I could do nothing about it. "Please stop!" They stopped shaking and both looked up at me.

"Sentiment, weakness. You are in over your head Tom mason. Now release me before it's too late."

"Ok, alright. I understand now." I felt anger boil inside me. No one messes with my family! I pulled out my hand gun and shot. It gripped it's throat and slid down the wall. I heard heavy breathing. I looked at Ben and Ashley and they were released from the fish-head's influence. I held their heads up as guards came into the room.
