"Maximov was supposed to witness the end of eternity," he growled. "Now you will take his place."
Sam juked around Arachne's leg and tore into it a few more times before Arachne twisted its body and took a swipe at him with its front leg. Sam ducked under the surprisingly quick blow and tried getting back to its side.
"I gave your ancestors magick and this is how you repay me!"
Arachne's HP continued to decline thanks to Ji's continuous attacks. He was quickly nearing half. Sam saw Ji get pushed away by one of Arachne's hind legs. With its focus briefly on Ji, Sam dashed in and landed a few easy blows before being pushed back after blocking Arachne's leg. Arachne opened his mouth again and sucked in what had to be a soul out of another statue. The demon sped up even more and threw his limbs all over. Sam had to jump over, dodge, and block continuous attacks from two different legs at once. He soon found himself right next to Ji.
"Sarem, what's the plan now? He seems to have powered up greatly from consuming only a few souls."
They both continued to dodge attacks while they talked.
"I think he's helped us out by funneling us near one another."
"I fail to see how. Most likely he wants to take us out with one attack."
"Yeah," Sam said before ducking a stab attempt that would've taken his head off, "but if we're on the same side he can really only attack one of us with his legs. I'll run in while you dodge his attacks."
"I see. Well, go on then."
"Thanks!" Sam said before dashing forward with a head full of steam and stabbing Arachne with a vicious heavy thrust. Arachne screamed as Sam charged another attack. Sam waited until he felt the attack was at its apex of power, then he waited even more and felt even more power surge throughout his body and into his weapon.
Is this what a limit break feels like?
He unleashed his attack once he felt the last of the power coil around his weapon and arm. His right arm and Corseque were both covered in flames as the charged attack flew towards Arachne's side and exploded into a mini arson.
Arachne's body hit the ground as its legs gave way.
"Sarem, it's weakened! Go to its head!"
Sam leapt over its prone legs as he ran to the area he'd seen its mouth open from. With the mouth closed, Arachne's 'face' was indistinguishable from its body. Sam took a guess as to where its head would be by measuring up a foot from where its mouth was. He stabbed down and as the hair parted away from his spear he saw he'd struck one of several of Arachne's glowing yellow eyes. Arachne screamed as a bile colored liquid ran from his ruined eye. The liquid was so hot that it created a thick plume of steam.
Sam leapt away before the angry boss could retaliate and flicked the pus from his blade with a swing.
"You wretched flies! All I want is an end to your miserable worthless existence. Nothing would make me happier."
Arachne began to glow once again and this time Sam and Ji got the hell away from him. Arachne's attack appeared to be a diversion since he didn't explode. He instead opened his mouth and sucked in even more souls from ten different statues around the pit. That gave him the energy to lift his gigantic body up high above his legs, high enough that melee attacks couldn't reach him.
"Fucking cheater!" Sam yelled. "Fight me like a man!"
"Don't ever put me on your level, fly. I am forever beyond you and your kin even in my decayed state."
